Route Description for Contemplative, Roundup, and Mesa Loop
Seeking a quintessential Colorado Springs experience? If so, then you must explore the Red Rock Canyon Open Space, and the Contemplative, Roundup, and Mesa Loop is the best way to do it. Featuring gigantic red-hued bluffs, mesas, quarries, and unique sculptures, this park is a sight for sore eyes—not to mention the distant Front Range views, including Pikes Peak! Dotted with lush vegetation in the summer months, this trek is a great fresh air escape. However, it is important to note that this is a popular destination, and rightfully so—make sure to head out early to beat the crowds and the heat!
The Contemplative, Roundup, and Mesa Loop follows the Sand Canyon Trail southwest from the trailhead and parking lot. Soon after your departure you will reach an intersection merge onto the Contemplative Trail here. Follow this path south, beneath the shade of the looming cliffs, whilst enjoying epic mountain views.
