Route Description for Little Scraggy Trail

This versatile trail is perfect for hikers and bikers alike. Hike the dirt path around the base of Little Scraggy Mountain and revel in the grandeur of the granite boulders that line the traill. Impressively scenic, this bluff hike will guide you through the woodlands and through wildflower-abundant meadows. Make sure to pack plenty of water for you and your dog as there are few stream crossings along the trail!

Begin your adventure around the Little Scraggy Trail from the car park and trailhead. The direction you complete the trail is your choice, but we recommend completing it clockwise. Track southward on the Little Scraggy Trail. Follow along the trail as it undulates around the base of Little Scraggy Mountain. Trek along the path and notice the granite spires and impressive boulders that dot the route. Continue hiking and you will eventually meet the Kelsey Campground. Curve around the base of the mountain and climb up the steep terrain. Summit the steep section of the path then navigate the switchbacks down into a valley.

The trail will weave between meadowed and forested landscapes as it guides you back to the parking lot. Enjoy the views of the surrounding Colorado landscape as they peak through the trees. Follow the path as it mildly undulates and eventually delivers you back to the parking lot.
