Route Description for Shoreline Loop Trail

The Shoreline Loop Hike does not really live up to its name, instead of hiking along the shoreline, adventurers will walk through grassy plains with the odd view of the Horsetooth Reservoir. Though this path does not travel along the shoreline, it is still charming and picturesque. Hike through grassy plains and keep your eye out for grazing deer that often hang out in this area. Note that visitors must purchase a pass to adventure the Horsetooth Mountain Open Space. These permits are typically around $9USD and can be purchased at the kiosk.

Embark on your journey around the Shoreline Loop Trail from the Soderberg Trailhead. Track north along the Swan Johnson Trail, and at the first intersection, keep straight and you will be diverted onto the Shoreline Trail. Hike through the meadows and you will eventually pass a lookout over Dixon Cove. Follow the dirt path, minding the horseback riders passing by. Trek along the Shoreline Trail until you meet the path’s end. Here you will want to turn left onto the Nomad Trail. This path will loop you south. Ignore merging routes and venture the path all the way to the trail’s end.

At the trail’s end, turn left onto Towers Trail before quickly reconnecting with the Swan Johnson Trail. At this junction, turn right and venture the Swan Johnson Trail all the way back to the trailhead and parking lot.
