Gunsight Lake Trail is a beautiful journey through the mountains that showcases Gunsight, Fusillade and Citadel Mountain, as well as Mount Jackson and Mount Logan. Also on display are Blackfoot and Jackson Glacier that house stunning views. When you reach Gunsight Lake, sandy beaches surround the lakeshore and are the perfect spot to enjoy a picnic lunch.
Route Description for Gunsight Lake Trail
Gunsight Lake Trail is a stunning trail that encompasses multiple mountain, glacier and lake views. The hike begins at the Jackson Glacier Overlook, found along the Going to the Sun Road. Continue minding the trailhead signs, and at 4.3 km you will come across Mirror Pond.
At 6.9 km, the terrain becomes a bit rougher, and steep climbing begins. When you reach 8.9 km, the ground levels out, and you are met with views of Gunsight Pass nestled between Gunsight Mountain and Mount Jackson. At 9.8 km, views of Gunsight Pass Lake will emerge. When you are finished exploring, head back the way you came as this is an out-and-back trail.

Getting to the Gunsight Lake Trail Trailhead
To get to Gunsight Lake Trail from Siyeh Bend, Montana, head East on Glacier Route 1 Road/Going-to-the-Sun Road for 3.2 km and arrive at Jackson Glacier Overlook where the trail begins.
