    Route Description for Waterton Overlook Trail

    Waterton Overlook Trail is popular among families as it is a relatively easy hike and takes you along the shores of Waterton Lake. Take the family on a journey through the forest and meadows that make up this trail and keep an eye out for wildlife roaming around. After crossing the border into the United States at the Goat Haunt Ranger Station, follow the trail signs that will lead you to the shoreline. Continue to follow this trail and you will begin to see glimpses of the beautiful emerald lake. The last area of the hike will bring you to Boundary Creek, which has a small area of cascading waterfalls and then you will arrive back at the beginning of the trail as this is a circuit.

    Getting to the Waterton Overlook Trail Trailhead

    To get to the Waterton Overlook Trail, you have to have your passport ready and cross an international border between Canada and the United States. Hop on the boat tour in Waterton, Alberta, and this will take you to the Goat Haunt Ranger Station, where your passports are checked and where your hike begins.
