From the trailhead, you will almost immediately pass by the wooded shores of Sanders Lake on your right and can head out onto the wooden dock to get the best views over the water. Breaking out of the tree cover, you will have a sightline looking down on the rocky, eroding surface of the ridge and beyond to Kapristo Mountain to the southeast and Beaverhead Peak directly to the east.
