Red Squirrel Trail

The Red Squirrel Trail takes hikers between the Old Fort Point Trail and Jasper Park Lodge. It is a short paved connector trail that is used to gain access to other trails. Feel free to take a short stroll from town along the Red Squirrel Trail if you are looking to explore with kids.

Route Description for Red Squirrel Trail
The Red Squirrel Trail is part of Jasper’s connector trails system that is filled with short trails whose purpose is to connect larger trails to town. That doesn’t mean anyone can’t take a stroll along these short connector trails on their own. Part of this easy trail parallels the Athabasca River while another section is on the Lac Beauvert access road. This trail is straightforward and signed to connect the Jasper Park Lodge with Old Fort Point trail. Enjoy views of the river and stunning vistas of Jasper Park Lodge on your light walk.
Getting to the Red Squirrel Trail Trailhead
The trailhead for the Red Squirrel Trail is at the junction of the 93A and Highway 16.
