Route Description for Little Mell Fell Trail
Walking the Little Mell Fell Trail is the perfect family excursion in the Lake District due to its short overall distance and wonderful views over the surrounding landscape that will make every member of your walking party feel like a seasoned adventurer. The trail sets out from the side of the road and gradually climbs up along the grassy hillside to the north, eventually reaching the summit of Little Mell Fell. Here, you will enjoy beautiful views of the Lake District that include Great Mell Fell nearby to the northwest and the blue expanse of Ullswater to the south. Continue around the loop portion of the trail and follow it back downhill to arrive at the trailhead where you began this quick adventure.
Getting to the Little Mell Fell Trail Trailhead
To reach the Little Mell Fell trailhead from Pooley Bridge, drive southwest on B5320 for 0.8 km and follow the road left onto A592. Follow this for 2.6 km and turn right, continuing on for another 2.7 km to find the trailhead on the right.
