Dead Horse Visitors Center Loop

The Dead Horse Visitor Center Loop takes you past three overlooks where you’ll be able to look out at the Solar Evaporation Ponds and the canyon below.

Route Description for Dead Horse Visitors Center Loop
The Dead Horse Visitor Center Loop is a great little hike that is super accessible to hikers young and old, beginning or experienced . This hike gets very hot in the afternoon sun, especially in the summer, so bring a good sunhat, sunscreen, and lots of water. Dogs are allowed on this hike, however they must be kept on leash the whole time, and their leash must not be longer than 2 m. The Visitor Center Loop is peppered with informative signage that will teach you all about the wonders of Dead Horse Point State Park. This hike is a great place to spend a bit of time learning, and exploring with the whole family.
From the Visitor Center, follow the path eastwards. The trail passes by three fantastic viewpoints as it loops down south then back up to the visitor center.

Getting to the Dead Horse Visitors Center Loop Trailhead
This trail begins and ends at the Dead Horse Visitor Center off of highway 313, 40.2 km southwest of Moab, UT.
