Route Description for Sorrel Ridge Trail
The hike along Sorrel Ridge is a great way to cap off a day hiking and exploring around the Utah desert. This trail is a loop but the second half is not well marked and not well defined so many hikers opt to hike this as an out-and-back style trail. The views from Sorrel Ridge are absolutely breathtaking. Consider doing this hike at sunset for an especially memorable experience. From the Sorrel River Ranch, follow the trail east towards Sterns Creek. The loop begins and ends at the creek crossing. Cross over the creek and follow the trail northeast up for 0.4mi to a viewpoint overlooking the Colorado River. Rest here and enjoy the stunning views of the valley below. The other half of the loop curves down southeast from the viewpoint and follows a rocky scramble down the hill to meet up with Sterns Creek. At Sterns creek, turn right and follow the creekbed back to the main trail. If you are not comfortable with route finding or rugged trails, you can also follow the same path that you took up to the viewpoint to get back down to the parking area.Getting to the Sorrel Ridge Trail Trailhead
