The hike to Og Lake is a great activity within Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park that will take you from the Assiniboine Lodge to the shores of the charming lake. While out on the trail, you will pass through scenic meadows and experience views of the dramatic mountain peaks that characterize the park. This is a fantastic trail to complete on a rest day between more challenging hikes.
Route Description for Og Lake Trail
With little overall elevation gain and breathtaking scenery throughout, the hike to Og Lake is a popular activity in Mt. Assiniboine Provincial Park if you are after an intermediate length hike without too much difficulty. The trail sets out from the Assiniboine Lodge and heads to the north to pass through picturesque meadows and intermittent stretches of forest, providing beautiful views of the mountainous terrain that flanks the trail on either side. Eventually, you will reach the charming shores of Og Lake and walk along its western bank to arrive at the campground. Here, you can either set up camp under the shadow of Og Mountain to the east while enjoying the peaceful lakeside setting, or simply head back along the trail to return to the lodge.Getting to the Og Lake Trail Trailhead
Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park is a remote location without any access roads, a feature which protects the landscape, but also makes it difficult to reach. If you are looking to explore the park, you will need to either hire a helicopter or hike into one of the main campsites via the Sunshine Village or Mount Shark trailheads.Route Information
