Route Description for Bamburgh Dunes Walk
Whether you enjoy visiting historic castles, experiencing the breathtaking views of the sea, or are simply looking for a great trail that your entire family can take part in, the Bamburgh Dunes Walk will be sure to meet all of your needs. This 3.5 km trail is filled with epic seaside views that will make for a memorable experience no matter your age or skill level.
Setting out from the trailhead in Bamburgh, you will head to the northeast along Front Street and take in the charming village views, before turning off to the left just before the castle green. From here, you will continue on to the northeast to work around the extensive fortifications of Bamburgh Castle on the way to the beach.
Here, you will explore the dunes and gaze out across the deep blue expanse of the North Sea, before turning to the northwest to walk along the beach. Eventually, you will cross back over the dunes and follow the path as it turns to the south, leading you past the castle green and through the village on the return to the trailhead.
