Route Description for Pima East Loop
The Pima East Loop is a quick little hike in the northeastern end of South Mountain Preserve in Phoenix. This hike is 3.2 km long and rated as easy. We’d recommend it for any skill level, especially when you want to get outside but don’t have much time. You could also use this as a warm-up for other hikes in the preserve. This route doesn’t tend to get very busy, either.
From the trailhead, backtrack along the road to where the trail takes off sharply to your left. Follow it across the Pima Wash on the Pima West Loop Trail. Where the trail forks, stay right onto Pima East Loop Trail.
Continue along this trail as it makes its way around the small hills. You’ll generally keep to your left as you make your way around. The trail turns south, and you’ll bear right onto the Pima West Loop to return to the trailhead.
