Route Description for Cache La Poudre River Trail
The Cache La Poudre River Trail is a stimulating nature hike that the whole family will enjoy. Hike through grassy meadows, beneath towering pines, and alongside the banks of the Cache La Poudre River. This excursion is a great place to see wildlife! Keep an eye out for grazing deer and elk as you walk the river canyon. It is worth noting that this trail is almost entirely exposed, so make sure to lather on the sunscreen on sunny days! Note this trail is located within the Rocky Mountain National Park, so visitors are required to purchase a park pass. These passes can be acquired online or at one of the many park kiosks.
Begin your expedition along the Cache La Poudre River Trail from the trailhead. From here, track northeast along the Cache La Poudre Trail. Hike along the meadow laden path and enjoy the vistas of the snow-capped mountains towering above. The path will weave you between sparse pine tree shade and vast meadowed trails. Travel through the diverse terrains and enjoy the meditative sounds of the rushing river.
Follow the trail until you meet the route’s end- this is your turnaround point. To get back to the trailhead, retrace your steps along the path.
