Directions to Trailhead

The Big Bear 2N05 Loop Trail is a relatively short adventure near Big Bear Lake, California that will take you through some of the rugged terrain of the San Bernardino Mountains. While out hiking the trail, you will pass through the woodland terrain and climb up the hilly landscape, before looping around on the return leg. Hikers should take note that this route is poorly marked and will require a GPS or trail map in order to stay on the correct route.

Route Description for Big Bear 2N05 Loop Trail

If you don’t mind doing a bit of navigation while out hiking, then the Big Bear 2N05 Loop Trail will be a fun option to explore near San Bernardino. Make sure to display your adventure pass prior to setting out to avoid receiving a fine.

Setting out from the trailhead, you will enter into the cover of the forest and make your way east for a short distance to meet up with the forest service road. Turning to the right, you will follow the road south through the woodland terrain, before changing your direction to the southeast as you gain elevation.

Make sure to keep an eye on your trail map or GPS, as there are many intersecting paths and it can be easy to lose your way. Eventually, you will loop around the hillside and turn to the north, descending through the forest on the return leg of the hike. After turning to the west and then once again to the south, you will climb slightly uphill along the forest service road to arrive back at the trailhead where you began.
