Ponderosa Nature Trail

The Ponderosa Nature Trail is a quick and easy hiking loop in the San Bernardino National Forest that features a peaceful setting and easy to traverse terrain. While out hiking the trail, you will follow along a forested loop that features interpretive signs that provide information on local plant and animal life. Hikers should take note that you will need to display an adventure pass in your vehicle prior to setting out on your journey.

Route Description for Ponderosa Nature Trail
Whether you are looking for a fun adventure that is suitable for young children or simply want to escape into the forest to clear your head, the Ponderosa Nature Trail is the perfect trail to explore a woodland setting while learning about the landscape.
Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way into the tree cover and follow the loop in a clockwise direction. Take some time to read about the local plant and animal life, including the black oak and pine trees that populate the area. Eventually, the trail will turn back to the southeast and bring you to the trailhead where you began.
If you enjoyed the trail and want to continue your day outdoors with another quick adventure, carefully cross over to the opposite side of CA-38 and pick up the Whispering Pines Nature Trail for another short loop.
Getting to the Ponderosa Nature Trail Trailhead
The Ponderosa Nature Trail can be accessed from CA-38, just southwest of the junction with Jenks Lake Road.
