Route Description for Masterson Meadow Lake Hike
Leading hikers through lush sub-alpine forests and montane meadows, the Masterson Meadow Lake Trail offers wonderful scenery every step of the way. Starting in the Klamath National Forest, this adventure enters the Trinity National Forest, offering epic views of the encompassing mountainous wilderness. This amazing adventure can be enjoyed year-round with a pair of snowshoes in the winter months! Note much of the route is rocky and uneven, demanding the navigation of stream crossings—so be sure to wear a pair of sturdy footwear!
Embark on your journey along the Masterson Meadow Lake Trail from the PCT Trailhead. Setting out from here, your will be guided northeast along the PCT, gradually climbing into the woodlands. Soon after your departure, you will confront a switchback, redirecting you southeast. Mind your footing on the rocky, vertiginous terrain along the slopes of Scott Mountain. Eventually, the path will divert northeast—the trail will plateau here, offering you a break.
Enjoy the break from climbing as you meander to Masterson Meadow Lake. Enjoy the scene of the charming alpine lake and the expansive panoramas of the dramatic landscape. Once you are through reveling in the breathtaking scenery, head back along the route the way you came.
