Explore an incredible ridgeline on the ever-so strenuous Five Sisters of Kintail Walk in the Scottish Highlands. This challenging endeavour will have you tackling not one but three Munros! Feel like you’re on top of a wild, wild supernatural world as you meander across the ridgeline. Do note that while we say this is dog-friendly, it’s important to keep your pups on a leash or maybe leave them at home due to steep drops along the ridge.

Route Description for Five Sisters of Kintail Walk

The Five Sisters of Kintail Walk explodes with quintessential supernatural and dramatic Highland scenery while boasting three Munros. And with bagging three Munros in one go comes screaming lungs! If you aren’t much of a hillwalker, we suggest tackling easier hillwalks before lacing up for this adventure. Plus, experience is crucial when there’s snow on the ground. So bring proper equipment and brush up on basic information for essential snow-walking skills before you go!

When you’re finally ready to take on the Five Sisters of Kintail Walk, head to the Glen Shiel Car Park and get ready for a wild day of exploring! Go west to start the first ascent of the day along a boggy path from the car park. You’ll climb 550 m in just under a kilometre! Continue climbing until you reach the ridge. The hard part—lung-wise—is done!

Follow the undulations along the ridge towards the first Munro, Sgùrr nan Spainteach. Get ready for a short scramble! After, you’ll head to the second Munro, Sgùrr na Ciste Duibhe. Next, dip down to Bealach na Craoibhe before ascending Sgùrr na Càrnach. While your lungs may not be as tired as the first climb, this section along the ridge is super technical, so be vigilant and keep your GPS handy.

Eventually, you’ll land 15km from where the walk started, making it essential to figure out public transport or a ride back before you go!
