    Route Description for Garwood Trail

The Garwood Trail is a splendid easy hike in the northern section of Tucson’s Saguaro National Park East. With varied terrain, wildlife, good views, and no major challenges, it’s perfect for a casual outing in nature. This route is suitable for all skill levels and ages. We especially recommend it for an early morning stroll because it’s normally not too busy.

Dogs are not permitted on this trail, but watch for horse traffic. As with all hikes in the Tucson area, bring lots of water and try to schedule your hike for the cooler mornings or evenings. Good boots are recommended for this trail as some stretches are rocky.

From the trailhead, take the trail furthest to your left to the first junction, where you’ll turn right onto Garwood Trail. At the next fork, stay left to stay on Garwood Trail. You’ll then stay left twice more before going straight through two back-to-back junctions. Cross a wash and end your route at the T-junction, turning back and retracing your steps. There are plenty of connecting routes should you want to keep hiking a while longer.
