Directions to Trailhead

The Mining Overlook and Caves Hike is a fun little adventure in Oregon that will take you through the forest to a series of caves. Along the trail, you will make your way uphill toward the caves, doing some light scrambling to explore the rock formations and take in views of the surrounding area. While this is a short hiking route, be aware that there will be some off-trail hiking required through some rugged terrain.

Route Description for Mining Overlook and Caves Hike

Short and scrambly, the Mining Overlook and Caves Hike is a fun adventure for those who want to get off the beaten path and explore some interesting rock formations. Be sure to wear proper hiking footwear to better traverse the terrain.

Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way to the northeast, steadily gaining elevation as you hike past towering trees to reach the caves. After a bit of rugged climbing, you can explore the caves and gaze out across the beautifully scenic landscape of Umpqua National Forest. Once you have thoroughly explored the area, head back along the same route to return to the trailhead.
