Route Description for Hardraw and Great Shunner Fell Walk
For those walkers looking to challenge themselves while experiencing the natural beauty of the Yorkshire Dales, the Hardraw and Great Shunner Fell Walk is a great adventure that will do just that. Sweeping views of rugged moor, rolling green hills, and charming little villages await on this scenic uphill journey.
Setting out from the village of Hardraw, you will head to the northwest across the open fields and quickly transition onto the rugged terrain of the moor. Climbing uphill, you will continuously gain a better perspective of the surrounding landscape, as you work your way up the steep slopes on the final push to the summit. Reaching the top of Great Shunner Fell, take a few moments to soak up the views across the Yorkshire Dales before returning along the same route.
Getting to the Hardraw and Great Shunner Fell Walk Trailhead
To get to the trailhead for the Hardaw and Great Shunner Fell Walk from Hawes, drive northeast on Brunt Acres Road for 1.3 km and make a slight left to stay on the same road for another 27 m. Keep left onto Bellow Hill for 1.0 km to arrive at the trailhead.
