    Hetton to Flasby and Sharp Haw Loop

    The Hetton to Flasby and Sharp Haw Loop is a wonderfully scenic walk in Yorkshire Dales National Park that will lead you through a lesser-travelled part of the region. While out on the trail, you will make your way along the banks of Flasby Beck and pass through the small hamlet before climbing uphill for stunning views from atop Sharp Haw. This is a great route if you are looking to escape the crowds and experience a less well known part of the dales.

    Route Description for Hetton to Flasby and Sharp Haw Loop

    While there are certainly flashier walks within Yorkshire Dales National Park, the Hetton to Flasby and Sharp Haw Loop will allow you to get away from the crowds to explore the beautiful landscapes of the park while reconnecting with nature. If you are planning on doing this walk in the spring or after a good rainfall you should bring your wellies, as the trail will likely be quite muddy.

    Setting out from the trailhead in Hetton, you will initially make your way to the southwest along the road, before breaking out onto a footpath on your left. This will eventually meet up with the banks of Flasby Beck, allowing you to follow along the water’s edge until you reach the tiny hamlet.

    From here, you will cross over to the opposite side of the beck and follow the road to the southwest as it climbs up the hillside. Eventually, you will take a footpath on your left that will lead you on a steep climb up the moor to reach the summit of Sharp Haw. After taking in the beautifully scenic views of the Yorkshire Dales, head to the northeast to begin your descent of the summit before making your way downhill towards Flasby. Reaching the edge of the village, you will turn to the northeast and cross the open countryside along the edge of the moor, traversing the undulating landscape as you make your way back to Hetton where you started your adventure.

    Getting to the Hetton to Flasby and Sharp Haw Loop Trailhead

    To reach the trailhead for the Hetton to Flasby and Sharp Haw Loop from Skipton, drive north on Grassington Road for 6.3 km and turn left onto Raikes Lane, following it for 0.8 km. Turn left onto Fleets Lane and continue on for 0.3 km to reach the trailhead.
