Explore South Tyrol on the Adige Cycle Path Family Tour
For families who are on the adventurous side, the Adige Cycle Path Family Tour is an amazing experience to be had in Italy. From the bike saddle, you can enjoy a ride along one of the most beautiful cycle paths that will take you through the mountains to Bolzano. The cycle tour itself is as diverse as the south Tyrolean nature: picturesque villages, historic castles, and stunning alpine terrain await the whole family!
In addition to the incredible adventure activities that can be experienced on the tour, the rich Italian culture will surround you and the delicious cuisine of the region will make your mouth water. Delicacies and fine wines provide culinary highlights that can be found nowhere else on earth, and the little cyclists in your family will be looking forward to plenty of pizza, spaghetti and gelato! If you are after an unforgettable journey through Italy’s mountainous north, then the Adige Cycle Path is a fantastic option to explore!
Upon arriving in Resia (Reschen) you will check into your accommodation, where you will find your travel documents and rental bikes (if booked). Spend the rest of the evening exploring the surrounding area.
Enjoy the unparalleled panoramic views in Resia and breath in the fresh mountain air before beginning your cycling adventure. Today’s stage will have two marvellously glistening lakes awaiting you, as you cycle past romantic snow-covered mountain tops and through unspoilt nature.
Take a quick plunge into the refreshing Lake Resia (Reschensee), featuring the renowned steeple in the water, or into the slightly smaller Lake Haidersee. You will then continue cycling downhill on a well-maintained cycle path to Schluderns. Knight-enthusiasts get their money’s worth at Churburg-castle, where you will have the chance to visit the world’s largest private armoury!
Cycling through South Tyrol, you will make your way to Laas, where the world-renowned white marble is mined. It is recommended here that you seize the chance and sample the tasty yellow-orange Vinschger apricots, or at least purchase a jar of the sweet jam to take home with you!
Invigorated by those treats, you will continue through orchards as far as Schlanders, where you will marvel at the highest church tower in the country and jump into the cool water from the 3-metre diving platform of the outdoor pool.
Today you will be inundated with apple blossom meadows, fruit plantations, and picturesque villages that line your cycle path across the Vinschgau region. Gleefully you will cycle to Latsch, where you will have time to visit the AquaForum – a water park that offers a lot of fun for families.
Continuing along the cycle path, you will make your way to the endpoint of the day in Naturns. If you still fancy more splashing, Naturns offers a further opportunity to do so with its adventure pool and giant slide that are especially nice on hot summer days.
Day 5 of the tour will see you cycle through the flat valley terrain along the Adige river dam, which is a true pleasure for both adults and kids. The impressive panorama onto the Merano Valley basin and the surrounding mountain terrain is a constant companion along today’s route.
Take a leisurely break at the picturesque pond of the Rabland habitat, before continuing on to Merano. You will experience sheer bliss as you stroll through the centre of the beautiful cultural town with its Mediterranean flair. Then, you will have the option to cycle onwards into the Passeiertal-valley if you so choose, finding fruit and wine growing areas deep into the valley. Cycle along the same route back to Merano.
The final day of cycling on your tour will allow for some time to enjoy the thermal springs of Merano, before embarking on the final leg of your adventure. Cycling downhill along the River Adige, you will pass by apple orchards, palaces, and castle ruins on the way into Bolzano, the endpoint of the tour. Here you can visit the Natural History Museum and the Archeology Museum – an exciting finale to your amazing cycling holiday through South Tyrol.
After breakfast, you will pack up your things and bid farewell to Bolzano for an individual departure from the beautiful Dolomites.

I’ve been using 10Adventures route guides for a while, but had never booked a tour. My wife and I booked a self-guided hike in Greece and were so impressed with how we were able navigate the route without a guide with the detailed and easy to follow itinerary. We enjoy travelling independently, and 10Adventures made that happen.

I was going through a tough time and really needed a getaway so I decided to book a tour through 10Adventures. My trip to Peru changed my life in so many positive and eye-opening ways. I am so thankful for the kind, empathetic team at 10Adventures.

I’ve adventured around a lot of Canada and the US, but I’ve always wanted to explore other parts of the world. I felt a bit scared before booking my trip to Israel, but my conversations with the team at 10Adventures helped ease any worry. I can’t wait to explore more of the world!

Travel companies have had to go through a lot during the pandemic but 10Adventures were super flexible and accommodating nonetheless. I had to cancel my tour in France due to the pandemic. 10Adventures was great and let me reschedule for a later date!

My wife Sarah and I had a great experience booking our 7-day cycling trip through Portugal via 10Adventures. The communication between us and Nadine leading up the trip was top-notch!

Communicating with 10Adventures feels like talking with a family-run business. I love to explore and travel, and exploring with the comfort of knowing I can talk to the team at 10Adventures with almost immediate feedback helps to ease any stress that comes with adventuring!

Whenever I’m looking for my next adventure 10Adventures never fails. Their routes all over England are my main go to for exploring and I have only had great experiences booking both guided and self-guided trips in Europe and South America with them. I am looking into Africa next.

I tend to have a lot of questions before travelling and was so happy to find that the team at 10Adventures responded to every single one of my inquiries in a timely fashion. I was never left waiting and waiting for a response. This was much appreciated!

I have horrible dietary issues making it super hard to book a pre-planned trip sometimes, but the communication through 10Adventures helped me navigate this situation! I am so grateful for all of their help. I cant wait to book with them again!

I just got back from backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, and WOW. What an unreal journey! The alpine meadows, waterfalls, and the lakeside camping spot were memorable highlights! I wonder what other tours 10Adventures has to offer. That one went so well that I am now convinced I need to book another!

I'm not a big fan of traveling because of my fear of flying, but my girlfriend convinced me to go on the Aurora Borealis Tour in the Yukon. I will never forget the mesmerizing northern lights. Such a romantic (and cold) getaway. I would highly recommend it.
