Trek through the gorgeous Dolomites on the easier Dolorama Trail
The Alto Adige Dolorama Trek is a gorgeous hiking adventure in the magical atmosphere of the Dolomites, a region of wild open spaces, green meadows, and jagged peaks standing out against the deep blue sky. From the beginning to the end of this adventure you’ll be surrounded by glaciers, ridges, and massifs, enjoying spellbinding views that make every walk unforgettable.
The Dolorama Trail, which you’ll be following, is an easier trekking route that’s suitable for newer and younger hikers, making this an ideal choice for less experienced trekkers or anyone wanting an adventure they can enjoy without the effort that other routes in this area demand.
A must-do for first timers and families, surrounded by the most beautiful peaks of the world. The Dolorama Trail consists almost entirely of forestry paths and hiking trails and is only crossed once by a paved road. Enjoy nights in quiet villages where you can taste the cuisine of the region and local accommodations that are wonderfully welcoming.
Arrive with public transport or private transfer to Bressanone, easily reachable by train, and check-in at the accommodation. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of this quiet mountain town. Bressanone is a colorful, lively city and the oldest in Tyrol. If you arrive early, take the chance to stroll through its colorful alleys and visit the frescoed rooms of the bishops’ palace.
This morning you are transferred to Zumis, where the route starts. The first stage of Dolorama is a very gentle yet steady incline, traversing the sprawling landscape of the Rodenecker-Lüsner Alm mountain pasture. It provides hikers with insights into life in the South Tyrolean Alps, and is surrounded by impressive panoramic views of the Pfunderer Mountains and panoramic walks with great views of the Alpine chain at the border between Austria and Italy. It runs mostly on gravel tracks. You pass through farms dominated by the typical mountain pastures. Today’s route ends in Lusen.
Right at the beginning of the second stage of the route, hikers experience the unique UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Dolomites. Hiking through the enormous geological rock outcrop at Würzjoch Ridge, hikers will witness hundreds of millions of years of geological history. It's a relatively easy walk with great views of the Alpine chain at the border between Austria and Italy and the northern Dolomites. You walk mostly on a ridge from where you can see Brunico's valleys.
The third stage of the route is accompanied by the typical birdcall of the nutcracker, winding through sparse pine forests. It's a slightly demanding walk which runs along mountain footpaths and gravel tracks. Approaching the Rifugio Genova, you have spectacular views of the Sass Putia.
Your route today runs along mountain footpaths and gravel tracks. The first part skirts the Odle Massif with breathtaking views of its cliffs. The view dominates the Val Gardena and Alpe di Siusi (with views of Sasso Lungo Massif). Towards the end you can descend to the funicular station to reach Ortisei.
Today’s hike is very easy. It runs along gravel tracks and footpaths mostly through the forests. You gradually descend from Rifugio Resciesa to Laion, enjoying views of Isarco River valley and its mountains. Nestled in the middle of the South Tyrol, surrounded by the loveliest mountains in the world, Laion is situated on a high terrace between vineyards and alpine pastures.
Your tour ends in Laion, unless you have booked a transfer or an extra night. Safe travels onwards!

I’ve been using 10Adventures route guides for a while, but had never booked a tour. My wife and I booked a self-guided hike in Greece and were so impressed with how we were able navigate the route without a guide with the detailed and easy to follow itinerary. We enjoy travelling independently, and 10Adventures made that happen.

I’ve adventured around a lot of Canada and the US, but I’ve always wanted to explore other parts of the world. I felt a bit scared before booking my trip to Israel, but my conversations with the team at 10Adventures helped ease any worry. I can’t wait to explore more of the world!

Travel companies have had to go through a lot during the pandemic but 10Adventures were super flexible and accommodating nonetheless. I had to cancel my tour in France due to the pandemic. 10Adventures was great and let me reschedule for a later date!

My wife Sarah and I had a great experience booking our 7-day cycling trip through Portugal via 10Adventures. The communication between us and Nadine leading up the trip was top-notch!

Communicating with 10Adventures feels like talking with a family-run business. I love to explore and travel, and exploring with the comfort of knowing I can talk to the team at 10Adventures with almost immediate feedback helps to ease any stress that comes with adventuring!

Whenever I’m looking for my next adventure 10Adventures never fails. Their routes all over England are my main go to for exploring and I have only had great experiences booking both guided and self-guided trips in Europe and South America with them. I am looking into Africa next.

I just got back from backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, and WOW. What an unreal journey! The alpine meadows, waterfalls, and the lakeside camping spot were memorable highlights! I wonder what other tours 10Adventures has to offer. That one went so well that I am now convinced I need to book another!

I'm not a big fan of traveling because of my fear of flying, but my girlfriend convinced me to go on the Aurora Borealis Tour in the Yukon. I will never forget the mesmerizing northern lights. Such a romantic (and cold) getaway. I would highly recommend it.

Wow! I am so happy with the experience I had with booking through 10Adventures for my tour in Italy! I worked with Nadine and she was super easy-going and helpful when it came to tweaking the itinerary provided on the website. 10/10 would book through 10Adventures again.
