Night 1-10
Baltic States Tour 2-3 star hotels
The accommodation on this tour will range from city centre hotels to rural guesthouses as you travel around different towns and regions
Spend 11 incredible days cycling through three European countries
The Bike the Baltic States Tour passes through a unique landscape of forests and lakes, interrupted only by charming villages like those from bygone centuries and the baroque splendor of restored cities. All of this and more is what the Baltic States have to offer you. Thanks to fascinating guided tours and scenic bike routes, you will not only get to know the three Baltic countries of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania on this bike tour, but also their history and, above all, their people.
On the first day of your adventure, you will arrive in Tallinn, where your guide will meet you in your hotel at 6pm (local time). Right after that, you will go out for a delicious Estonian dinner at a restaurant in the Old Town, before taking a guided tour of the Old Town. Accommodation in a hotel in Tallinn.
After spending a bit of free time in the morning, you will transfer by bus to Lahemaa National Park, one of the last unspoiled regions of the Baltic coast. Your first bicycle tour goes through picturesque forests, meadows, and along the stony seashores with erratic rocks left over from the last Ice Age. Accommodation and dinner in the area of Lahemaa National Park.
In the morning, you will go by bus to Mustvee to admire the sandstone outcrop. From there, you will begin the day’s enjoyable cycling tour along the shores of the Peipsi Lake. The body of water is the fifth largest lake in Europe, and the Estonian-Russian border runs right through the middle of it. You will reach your hotel in Tartu in the afternoon, where you can check in and enjoy a nice dinner.
You will begin the morning with a guided tour of Tartu, where you will find landmarks such as the Old Town with the famous Kissing Students fountain, classical main building of the University, and an imposing ruin of the Tartu Cathedral. Afterwards, you will travel by bus to the Otepää region, which is often referred to as “Estonian Switzerland“. Today’s cycling tour leads through its scenic hills, which present dramatic height differences of up to 280 meters. Finally, you will take another bus transfer to Riga (Latvia). Accommodation and dinner in Riga
Riga is an exciting European metropolis where you will be able to take your time exploring its architectural gems, including some fantastic facades of Art Nouveau. In the morning you will have a walking guided tour (ca. 3 hours), followed by lunch in a restaurant in the Old Town (as part of the HB). Afterwards, spend some free time exploring the city on your own. Accommodation is the same as on the previous day.
After a short bus transfer out of Riga, you will start your tour along a nice cycling path to Jurmala. Here, you will explore its white, sandy beaches by bike, while taking in the unique mixture of architecture that ranges from wooden 19th century villas to contemporary masterpieces. You will also have the opportunity to have a swim in the sea, followed by another bus transfer to Liepaja (arriving at the hotel late in the afternoon). Enjoy a nice dinner in a restaurant in the Old Town, before settling into your accommodation in Liepaja for the night.
After breakfast, you will be transferred directly to Lithuania to cycle the Baltic Coast along a beautiful route from Sventoji to Klaipeda. On the way you will stop in Palanga, a popular seaside town where you can enjoy the atmosphere in one of the numerous cafés (also worth visiting is the botanical garden and the amber museum). Take a guided tour in Klaipeda in the late-afternoon, followed by dinner in a restaurant in the Old Town. Accommodation in Klaipeda.
In the morning, you will cross the lagoon by ferry to reach the 98-kilometres long Curonian Spit. Due to the high dunes (up to 60 meters) the locals call it “the Lithuanian Sahara“. Along the way in Juodkrante, on the so-called Witch Hill, you can admire the bizarre carvings that represent figures from the Lithuanian myths. After a nice picnic, you will continue the scenic tour to Nida, where you will have dinner and settle into your accommodations.
On the ninth day of the tour you will leave Nida by boat to reach the mainland (about 2 hours). There, you will enjoy a nice cycling tour along the lagoon with a beautiful view of the spit and the dunes (weather permitting). You will eventually reach your hotel in Kaunas – the former capital of Lithuania – in the late afternoon by bus. Accommodation and dinner in Kaunas.
After breakfast, you will be transferred by bus to the beautifully scenic Lithuanian lake district. Here, you will cycle through its picturesque undulating terrain to reach Trakai, a famous gothic castle situated on the island on the Galve lake. After a short-guided tour of the castle, you will take a bus transfer to Vilnius (30 km), followed by a guided walking tour through the beautiful Old Town of the Lithuanian capital (ca. 2 hours). In the evening, you will tuck in for a festive dinner of Lithuanian specialties in a restaurant in the Old Town. Accommodation in a hotel in Vilnius.
After wrapping up your Bike the Baltic States adventure, you will set out for individual departure after breakfast. It is possible to extend your stay in Vilnius for those who wish to do so.
This partially-guided biking tour in the Baltic States is run as a fixed-departure tour where you’d be joining a group, however, custom private tours can be organized for those willing to travel with their group only (please contact us with your preferred date and the number of people in your group and we will create the itinerary just for you).

What does partially-guided mean?
Booking a partially-guided tour is a perfect choice for those who like to be in charge of some of their time while travelling, but also don’t want to be on their own during activities. In most cases, a partially-guided tour doesn’t have a tour leader assigned to a group, but some or most of the activities, such as hikes, city walks, or historic site visits, are led by different guides. Also, in most cases, booking a partially-guided tour is way cheaper than booking a fully-guided tour!

I’ve been using 10A route guides for a while, but had never booked a tour. My wife and I booked a self-guided hike in Greece and were so impressed with how we were able navigate the route without a guide with the detailed and easy to follow itinerary. We enjoy travelling independently, and 10A made that happen.

I’ve adventured around a lot of Canada and the US, but I’ve always wanted to explore other parts of the world. I felt a bit scared before booking my trip to Israel, but my conversations with the team at 10Adventures helped ease any worry. I can’t wait to explore more of the world!

Travel companies have had to go through a lot during the pandemic but 10Adventures were super flexible and accommodating nonetheless. I had to cancel my tour in France due to the pandemic. 10Adventures was great and let me reschedule for a later date!

Communicating with 10Adventures feels like talking with a family-run business. I love to explore and travel, and exploring with the comfort of knowing I can talk to the team at 10Adventures with almost immediate feedback helps to ease any stress that comes with adventuring!

Whenever I’m looking for my next adventure 10Adventures never fails. Their routes all over England are my main go to for exploring and I have only had great experiences booking both guided and self-guided trips in Europe and South America with them. I am looking into Africa next.

I just got back from backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, and WOW. What an unreal journey! The alpine meadows, waterfalls, and the lakeside camping spot were memorable highlights! I wonder what other tours 10Adventures has to offer. That one went so well that I am now convinced I need to book another!

I'm not a big fan of traveling because of my fear of flying, but my girlfriend convinced me to go on the Aurora Borealis Tour in the Yukon. I will never forget the mesmerizing northern lights. Such a romantic (and cold) getaway. I would highly recommend it.
