Appreciate the Baroque beauty of Sicily from a bike
The Cycling Sicily’s Baroque Landscape Tour is where architecture, art, and adventure meet. Rich in culture, history and beautiful landscapes, Sicily is one of the most fascinating areas of Italy. This adventure by bicycle takes you through eastern Sicily, an area of outstanding natural beauty with its natural reserves, crystal-clear sea and vegetation. During the week, you will ride on through the Noto Valley to admire the baroque influence in each village and ruin. Discover baroque towns such as Palazzolo Acreide, Modica, and Noto, the most important baroque town in Sicily, and Siracusa, an ancient Greek colony. Lose yourself for a while in one of the most picturesque regions of Italy, enjoying the flexibility to linger wherever you please.
The tour starts in Palazzolo Acreide where you will have a briefing before the rest of the day is at your leisure.
Your ride starts from Palazzolo Acreide but, before cycling, you will admire its historical monuments through the picturesque lanes in the mediaeval part of the town. Cycle through the ibleo territory where landscapes are sometimes wild and bare and sometimes full of vegetation, but always beautiful with their characteristic dry stone walls.
Before leaving the town of Modica, an amazing aristocratic village that rises on a cliff, you must taste the delicious spicy chocolate and visit the magnificent 18th century Church of San Giorgio. You will cycle downhill along a typical quarry of the iblei, reaching the town of Scicli, a very evocative town. Visit the centre with the ample Piazza Italia, the monuments, and other impressive and scenographic buildings such as the Saint Barthelemy Church, looking out over a rocky landscape of ever-changing colours.
After the visit, you will pedal to the marine centre of Pozzallo.
You will cycle on the flat until you reach the Isola delle Correnti, the most remote point of the continent between the Ionian Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, the same latitude as Tunisi.
On the way you will have the chance to taste the wonderful “Vino D’Avola” in one of the many cellars.
Cycling on the flat and then gradually cycling uphill, you’ll find yourself passing through the untouched and pristine Vendicari Natural Oasis, an area of great scientific interest with a lot of flora and fauna varieties. The trip continues north, ending the day at the city of Noto.
After having tasted the almond “granite” with the brioches, pride of the capital of the baroque as well as the many churches and palaces, you will cycle on the flat along the coast towards Siracusa, capital of the Magna Grecia.
Enjoy free time to visit the charming town of Siracusa, including the Neapolis archaeological park where the Greek Theatre rises. See the charming little island of Ortigia, the historical and cultural centre of the town. Of big interest are the Temple of Apollo, the Dome that is the outcome of successive transformations made to the grandiose temple of Athena, and the Fountain of Arethusa.

I’ve been using 10Adventures route guides for a while, but had never booked a tour. My wife and I booked a self-guided hike in Greece and were so impressed with how we were able navigate the route without a guide with the detailed and easy to follow itinerary. We enjoy travelling independently, and 10Adventures made that happen.

I’ve adventured around a lot of Canada and the US, but I’ve always wanted to explore other parts of the world. I felt a bit scared before booking my trip to Israel, but my conversations with the team at 10Adventures helped ease any worry. I can’t wait to explore more of the world!

Travel companies have had to go through a lot during the pandemic but 10Adventures were super flexible and accommodating nonetheless. I had to cancel my tour in France due to the pandemic. 10Adventures was great and let me reschedule for a later date!

Whenever I’m looking for my next adventure 10Adventures never fails. Their routes all over England are my main go to for exploring and I have only had great experiences booking both guided and self-guided trips in Europe and South America with them. I am looking into Africa next.

I just got back from backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, and WOW. What an unreal journey! The alpine meadows, waterfalls, and the lakeside camping spot were memorable highlights! I wonder what other tours 10Adventures has to offer. That one went so well that I am now convinced I need to book another!

I'm not a big fan of traveling because of my fear of flying, but my girlfriend convinced me to go on the Aurora Borealis Tour in the Yukon. I will never forget the mesmerizing northern lights. Such a romantic (and cold) getaway. I would highly recommend it.
