Itinerary for English Way Camino Pontedeume Option
Arrive in Ferrol
Arrive today in the city of Ferrol, and the Atlantic coast of Galicia in Spain. This is the starting point for your hike on the English Way. If you have time, a visit to the Port of Ferrol is highly recommended.
Ferrol to Pontedeume
Start your way in urban areas and without much difficulty along the estuary. Only when you leave Fene behind, you will find the first differences in altitude.
Pontedeume to Betanzos
Today is mainly through rural areas. The hardest point is the climb from Ponte do Porco to Montecelo. Enter Betanzos, a beautiful medieval town famous for its omelette.
Betanzos to Hospital de Bruma
You are facing the most difficult and complex phase of this path. Move away from urban centers and estuaries to walk several kilometers in nature. Surrounded by forests and shrubs, you cross steep terrain and small villages until you reach Mesón do Vento. There are hardly any services in this section.
Hospital de Bruma to Sigüeiro
Compared to the previous day, you are presented with a relatively simple and flat route today. The area consists of asphalt and dirt roads.
Sigüeiro to Santiago
Last stage. Today you reach the longed-for cathedral. The number of pilgrims increases significantly as you approach your destination. This stage has many kilometers with moderate slopes. The arrival in Santiago goes through an industrial area, but the magic recovers as soon as you enter the historical center until you can take a look at the towers of the cathedral.
End of your Camino Ingles
Sadly, your English Way walking tour has come to an end. After breakfast, check out of your hotel and begin your travels from Santiago de Compostela. Have a pleasant journey!
