Itinerary for Guided 10-day Tour du Mont Blanc
Meeting at Les Houches
On this day, you embark on your journey from the charming, traditional village of Les Houches. You will meet with your guide at 6 pm for a trip orientation meeting and introduction to the group. Hotel check-in is available after 3 pm.
Start your TMB and trek to Les Contamines
Walking through the pleasant village of Les Houches will mark the start of your trek. You'll take the cable car to Bellevue (included), which makes for an easier first day, cutting out the first ascent. The TMB path contours through the forest high above the Bionnassay Valley, offering views of alpine hamlets and excellent vistas of Mont Blanc and the foothills of the Alps. The Dôme du Gouter and Aiguille de Bionnassay dominate the views with an impressive glacier between them. You'll then climb over the Col de Tricot, and the steep but scenic descent follows a series of switchbacks to Chalet de Miage. At the end of the day, you'll descend to the lovely traditional village of Les Contamines.
Trek to Les Chapieux
After a short private transfer to Notre-Dame de la Gorge, you’ll begin your ascent towards the Col du Bonhomme and the Col de la Croix du Bonhomme. The trail leads into the scenic Chapieux Valley, offering impressive views of the Aiguille des Glaciers along the way. At the end of the hike, a private transfer will take you to your hotel in Bourg-Saint-Maurice.
Enter Italy and hike to Courmayeur
A private transfer will take you from Bourg-Saint-Maurice to Ville des Glaciers, where today’s hike begins. You’ll cross the Col de la Seigne and enter Italy, enjoying expansive views towards the Grandes Jorasses. After descending into Val Ferret, a private transfer from La Cantine de la Visaille will take you to Courmayeur.
Enter Switzerland and hike to La Fouly
After a private transfer from Courmayeur to Val Ferret, you’ll hike across the Grand Col Ferret and cross the border into Switzerland. As you descend towards La Fouly, enjoy views of the Combins massif and the Italian side of Mont Blanc. At the end of the hike, a private transfer will take you to your hotel in Champex-Lac.
Hike to Champex
A private morning transfer will take you back to La Fouly, where you’ll begin today’s hike. Follow the trail through one of the most picturesque valleys in Valais, passing traditional villages and distinctive alpine architecture before reaching Champex and its scenic lake.
Hike to Trient
Starting from your hotel, you’ll walk through small alpine hamlets before climbing through the pastures of Bovine. A scenic balcony trail provides views across the Rhône Valley before you descend towards Trient. At the end of the hike, a private transfer will take you to your hotel in Martigny.
Hike to Argentière
A private transfer will take you from Martigny to Trient to begin today’s hike. You’ll climb to the Col de la Balme and cross back into France, enjoying views of Mont Blanc and the Aiguille Verte. Your guide will select one of two possible descent routes leading towards Le Tour or the village of Argentière.
Hike to Chamonix
Experience the stunning Balcon des Aiguilles Rouges before embarking on a hike up to Lac Blanc. Marvel at the breathtaking surrounding scenery, including Aiguille Verte, Les Drus, La Mer de Glace, Aiguilles de Chamonix, Mont Blanc du Tacul, Aiguille du Goûter, and, of course, Mont Blanc itself! Afterward, descend to Chamonix via Le Praz. Conclude the day by taking the cableway of La Flégère and a bus to your hotel in Chamonix, both of which are included.
