Ride in the fresh air from the ocean, the beauty of the natural landscape following you each kilometre. You’ll also have plenty of time to explore the medieval cities that are scattered along your route between Porto and Lisbon. The Cycling Tour from Porto to Lisbon is the perfect way to see two of Portugal’s most beautiful cities and all the gems in between.
When you arrive in Porto, you’ll be collected from the airport and brought to your hotel in the center of this UNESCO World Heritage city.
This is a great day to get used to your bicycle if you want to take a short ride to the medieval Ribeira district. Explore the spectacular city and enjoy a glass of its famous port wine!
Cycle out of the city towards the gorgeous Atlantic coast. Enjoy the stunning golden beaches between the occasional wooded area and coastal village.
Indulge in the catch of the day for dinner when you arrive at the fishing village of Furadouro.
Today your bike ride will be through the wild dunes of the Protected Natural Reserve of São Jacinto. The contrast of the bright white sand and the blue ocean is definitely worth a photo stop!
A side trip to Moliceiro to see the colourful, hand-painted boats is highly recommended. Finally, there will be a lot to explore when you arrive in Aveiro, known as the Venice of Portugal. Walk along the canals, sample delicious Aveiro pastry, and visit the salt pans for a relaxing foot soak!
Follow the canals on your bike out of Aveiro and continue through the lush fields until you reach the coast. Take in the fresh air and spectacular beaches as you ride to the fishing village of Praia de Mira.
Stop here to enjoy a meal of fresh seafood before your transfer meets you to drive you to Figueira da Foz for the night.
Your trail today leads you through the pine forest of Pinhal de Leiria. This ancient forest was planted to supply the wood to build ships for the great Portuguese discoverers in the 15th century.
Follow the Atlantic Road to São Pedro de Moel, a lovely beach area popular with surfers and fishermen.
Today you’ll be cycling between two very different towns. Begin your day in Nazaré, a famous fishing village that celebrates its commitment to tradition. Enjoy watching the colourful fishing boats from the gorgeous beach and see if you can spot the fisherwoman in their traditional 7-layered skirts and wooden clogs.
Cycle onwards to Óbidos, a fortified town that looks as if it was transported straight from medieval times. Explore the beautifully preserved architecture and charming homes that line the narrow streets.
This morning, return your bicycles at the hotel in Óbidos and be picked up by your transfer to Lisbon. You’ll have the day at leisure to see the sights of the city!
Stop at a few World Heritage sites: the Tagus, the Belem Tower, and the Jeronimos Monastery. Wander through Bairro Alto, historically a neighbourhood popular with artists and writers. Now it’s the center of a bustling nightlife scene where you’ll find a plethora of restaurants, bars, and Fado houses to explore.
After breakfast, your transfer will take you to the Lisbon Airport for your return flight home. Safe travels!
This self-guided cycling tour of coastal Portugal is always run as a private tour for your group only and the price depends on the size of your group and your travelling dates. Please note that the prices might increase during public holidays.
Important! Due to high demand of bookings this tour is not available for the July and September departures anymore.
The standard departure day is Sunday, but you can pay a supplement of $225USD per person to depart a different day of the week. This surcharge only applies to groups of 2-3 people. Larger groups can depart any day of the without any additional costs. Prices below are per person:

This tour is based in 4-star hotels. Whether it’s near the beach or the center of town, you’ll find each hotel to be perfectly situated.
In some cases, the accommodation listed below may need to be substituted for other comparable accommodations. The hotel list will be sent to you with your confirmation but will be reconfirmed 31 days prior to your arrival.

This tour includes shared transfers from the airport in Porto to your first hotel and from your final hotel to the Lisbon airport. There is a transfer included from Mira to Figueira da Foz and Óbidos to Lisbon. Luggage transfers are included throughout the tour.
Please note that it is advised that travellers bring their own helmets, however previously used helmets are provided. You may also opt to purchase a new one for €65 EUR. Please request this option at the time of booking.

Yes, your equipment is included. This tour includes a hybrid bicycle, cargo rack, pannier bike bag, bike lock (one per two bicycles), and helmet. A Tool kit, first aid kit, puncture repair kit, pump, spare inner tube, and prepaid mobile phone are also included. Please bring any additional equipment desired.
Is my helmet rental included?
Yes, a previously used helmet will be provided. You can bring your own helmet if you prefer. You may also opt to purchase a new one for €55 EUR. Please request this option at the time of booking.
Can I rent a child seat or trailer?
Yes, you can rent a child seat or bike trailer for children older than 9 months and up to 4 or 5 years old. Please request at time of booking for pricing and availability.
