Northern Italy is known worldwide for its spectacular landscapes. The 8-day Hike & Bike the Dolomites and Venetian Hills begins in the mountains, where you’ll hike under the dramatic rocky peaks of the UNESCO World Heritage-designated Dolomites. Stay on the mountainside in secluded mountain huts to revel in the peaceful alpine scenery between hikes.

The second half of your holiday is in Bassano del Grappa, where you’ll stay at a rural guesthouse and explore this beautiful area by bike. You’ll cycle to medieval towns, orchards, and wineries and will have lots of time to enjoy the incredible local produce. Day 1 Travel to Bassano del Grappa

When you arrive in Milan today your transfer will meet you at the airport and you’ll enjoy a private drive to your accommodations in Bassano del Grappa.

Tonight, you’ll be enjoying a rural stay at an “agriturismo,” which features delicious locally grown produce for dinner.

Day 2 Hike the Spectacular Dolomites

Have breakfast early as you’ll be leaving for San Martino di Castrozza first thing in the morning. You’ll take a short walk through this charming ski town so you can admire the rocky peaks of the Dolomites. Then, it’s time to start walking towards your mountain hut, which lays at 1800 meters above sea level. Enjoy the spectacular alpine views as you learn about the fascinating flora and history of the region.

Day 3 Discover the Canali Valley

Your hike today will be from your mountain hut accommodations into the isolated Canali Valley. You’ll enjoy a picnic lunch with unbelievable views of the valley surrounded by the jagged Dolomite peaks.

Hike back to the hut for dinner and to watch the sun sink behind the mountains.

Day 4 Hiking in the Pale di San Martino

Today a transfer will take you even higher into the mountains as you drive to Passo Rolle. Your hiking for the day will be in the spectacular Pale di San Martino area, where you’ll hike beneath the towering rock walls that rise 1000 meters above you.

After another beautiful picnic in the fresh mountain air, you’ll be driven back to Bassano. Dinner will be in an Italian pizzeria, and you’ll be enjoying the hospitality of the rural agriturismo for the night.

Day 5 Explore Historic Marostica by Bike

Your bike tour will leave from the farm in the morning and you’ll ride to the picturesque town of Marostica. You’ll explore the city and visit the ancient ruins of the medieval castle before stopping for lunch.

After you’ve explored the town, the tour will ride back to Bassano. Enjoy a walking tour of the city and visit the historic bridge before you return to the farm for dinner.

Day 6 Ride to Medieval Asolo

Spend another beautiful day on your bike as you ride to the ancient town of Asolo. From this hilltop town, you’ll be treated to a spectacular view of the area. Ride through quiet woods and fields on your way back to Bassano.

Dinner tonight will be at a local restaurant where you’ll be able to try some amazing regional cuisine.

Day 7 Vineyards and Valley Bike Ride

Your bike ride today will be through the beautiful Brenta river valley. You’ll cycle through beautiful vineyards and orchards that are dotted with charming old villages. Take a break from your ride with a visit to a winery with a tasting of the wonderful local wine.

In the afternoon you’ll have some free time to relax or take a stroll through the hills near your accommodations.

Day 8 Departure

This morning you’ll take a final bike ride through the beautiful Italian countryside. After a leisurely morning, you’ll take the transfer back to Milan to catch your flight home or continue your travels.

This tour is based in two types of accommodations. While you stay in the Dolomites you’ll stay in traditional mountain huts. The facilities are basic and room occupancy is double or triple with shared washroom facilities. In Bassano, you’ll be staying in a lovely rural setting at an “agriturismo” which is a guesthouse on a working farm. Rooms here have private washrooms and are based on double occupancy.

In some cases, the accommodation listed below may need to be substituted for other comparable accommodations.
