Day 1

Arrival in Lienz

Overnight Location - Hotel in Lienz | Distance - None | Meals - None

The first day of your tour will see you welcomed by the sunny town of Lienz! Enjoy the marvellous backdrop of the Lienz-Dolomites surrounding you and soak up a few rays whilst strolling through the charming town with its Mediterranean flair.

Day 2

Begin Your Adventure on the Drau Cycle Path

Overnight Location - Hotel in Lienz | Distance - 45 km + train ride | Meals - Breakfast

The train takes you comfortably from Lienz to San Candido. Before you make your way through the narrow Puster-valley along the Drau, which is still very unspoilt here, there are still plenty of chances for some swimming fun located directly en route with the adventure pool in InnichenSan Candido, the leisure centre in Assling and the ‚”Dolomitenbad”‘-pool in Lienz. But we also recommend to save some time to visit the ‚”Wichtelpark”‘ Sillian and the water adventure park ‚”Garlitzenklamm”‘. Had enough of cycling? Today’s tour can be easily cut short by train.

Day 3

Cycle Through the Upper Drau River Valley

Overnight Location - Hotel in Berg | Distance - 40 km | Meals - Breakfast

Today you will say goodbye to the hustle and bustle of Lienz and cycle along ancient Roman trade routes through the picturesque Upper Drau River Valley. Palaces, ruins, and castles stand as a testament to the ancient history of the region; however, there are also plenty of things to discover away from the route. Nearby you will find the adventure pool in Oberdrauburg, the Drau River oasis in Dellach, the water experience trail, climbing park, and much more in Greifenburg. This stage of the cycling journey is packed with adventure!

Day 4

Bike Through Drauenland to Spittal an der Drau

Overnight Location - Hotel in Spittal an der Drau | Distance - 40 km | Meals - Breakfast

Continuing on through the wetlands and rural farmland, the Drau Cycle Path Family Tour will follow alongside the River Drau all the way to Spittal. Here. you will pass cosy villages, cycle across historic market squares and race through cool wooded scenery. In Möllbrücke you get to visit the adventure pool and enjoy a 50-metre-long tower-slide, then for the final few kilometres you will pass through the Drauenland to reach Spittal. There will still be time left to visit the Sportbad Drautalperle or enjoy a stroll through the historic centre of town, so make sure to use the time wisely!

Day 5

Explore the Lower Drau River Valley

Overnight Location - Hotel in Villach | Distance - 40 km | Meals - Breakfast

Today the marvelous scenery of the Lower Drau River Valley awaits! Leaving the town of Spittal behind, you will continue cycling along the dams of the River Drau all the way to Villach. Along the easy cycling route we recommend you take a quick break in Molzbichl and visit the Carantana Museum.

On hot days a detour to the outdoor pool in Paternion or to the natural pool in Puch provides a welcome cooling off in the lovely water. However, you should make sure not to spend too much time there, since the finale of the Drau Cycle Path Villach awaits. How convenient that you get to spend not one but a total of two nights there!

Day 6

Cycle to Ossiacher See or Faaker See

Overnight Location - Hotel in Villach | Distance - 35/45 km | Meals - Breakfast, lunch, dinner

The town of Villach offers so many opportunities for exciting experiences, such as Carinthia‘s Thermal springs, diverse playgrounds, adventure Mount Affenberg, the town museum and plenty more. Today, however, you are back on your bike to visit one of the most popular lakes around Villach.

Depending on how you feel – and of course your stamina – you can cycle around Ossiacher See and discover the climbing forest or embark on a trip to Faaker See to enjoy one of the family-friendly lakeside lidos. No matter what you decide to do, a stupendous cycling day with lots of fun for the entire family is guaranteed!

Day 7

Departure Day

Overnight Location - None | Distance - None | Meals - Breakfast

After waking up and enjoying a filling breakfast, you will pack your things for an individual departure from Villach and the beautiful Austrian region of Carinthia.
