Hike the tallest mountains in the Czech Republic
Hikers, it’s time to explore the mountains of the Czech Republic! The Hiking the Giants of the Czech Republic tour is the perfect way to enjoy the mountains of this amazing country, linking each hike with stays in culturally rich villages every night.
On the Hiking the Giants in the Czech Republic tour, you’ll cruise up in cable cars to some of the best viewpoints in the Krkonoše Mountains, hike alongside biodiverse bogs 6000 years old, explore towering rock formations, and hike along ridges with views for miles. Trek alongside the mighty Elbe River, coming across secret waterfalls as you explore. The highlight of your hike comes as you trek to the summit of Sněžka, the country’s highest peaks. You can see all the way across to Poland from here! Start and end your adventures in Prague, a city that blends Gothic, Baroque, and Renaissance architecture to create a stunningly beautiful experience. This hiking tour is the perfect way to experience the natural beauty of the Czech mountains.
Your tour begins in Janske Lake (Janské Lázně), where you can embark on a skywalk through the trees, book into a local spa, or dip into the warm mineral springs if you’ve got the time.
Begin your first full day of adventure with a cable car ride up to Černá Hora, where a fantastic viewpoint over the mountains awaits. The original view tower up here was built in 1896, but don’t worry, it’s been updated since. You can look down on a 75-hectare peat bog that’s home to rare plants and animals and a shocking 6000 years old! Take an educational trail down alongside the bog to Pec pod Sněžkou.
Spend the evening getting cozy in your mountain resort.
Another cable car ride starts your day, but this one is extra special- you’re being whisked up to the peak of the Czech Republic’s tallest mountain, Sněžka. This 1602m summit was shaped by glaciers over thousands and thousands of years and hugs the Polish border.
Enjoy the mountain flora and the pretty mountain hut up here, then hike along the Kozí Hřbety Ridge before descending to Špindlerův Mlýn, a luxurious mountain resort. Explore the resort before ending off your hike at tonight’s hotel.
Today you’ll enjoy a loop hike to the Zlaté Návrší (Golden Hill) and Labe (Elbe) spring. Take a cable car to Medvědín, a hill with a great viewing tower and chalet. Hike to the Pančovský Waterfall. The Sněžné jámy deep corries. The Dívčí Kameny rocks. the Ambrožova viewpoint, and Elbe River. So much to see!
After a jam-packed day, you’ll take the bus the rest of the way back to Špindlerův Mlýn.
Your last full day of hiking starts with a bang as you hike up to Kotel Mountain, which is carved by unique corries. On the way, enjoy the typical half-timbered houses of Dvoračky. From the top of Kotel, you’ll be able to enjoy panoramic views. Wander along the connecting ridges for different perspectives, enjoying some of the most expansive views of the Czech Republic you can get.
Descend to Rokytnice nad Jizerou, an area traditionally involved in the glass and textile industry and settled back in 1574.
After a great few days of exploration in the mountains, it’s time to find your way back to Prague from Rokytnice nad Jizerou. You’ll either begin your outward travels or enjoy another day or two here if you’ve pre-booked some additional nights.

I’ve been using 10Adventures route guides for a while, but had never booked a tour. My wife and I booked a self-guided hike in Greece and were so impressed with how we were able navigate the route without a guide with the detailed and easy to follow itinerary. We enjoy travelling independently, and 10Adventures made that happen.

I’ve adventured around a lot of Canada and the US, but I’ve always wanted to explore other parts of the world. I felt a bit scared before booking my trip to Israel, but my conversations with the team at 10Adventures helped ease any worry. I can’t wait to explore more of the world!

Travel companies have had to go through a lot during the pandemic but 10Adventures were super flexible and accommodating nonetheless. I had to cancel my tour in France due to the pandemic. 10Adventures was great and let me reschedule for a later date!

Communicating with 10Adventures feels like talking with a family-run business. I love to explore and travel, and exploring with the comfort of knowing I can talk to the team at 10Adventures with almost immediate feedback helps to ease any stress that comes with adventuring!

Whenever I’m looking for my next adventure 10Adventures never fails. Their routes all over England are my main go to for exploring and I have only had great experiences booking both guided and self-guided trips in Europe and South America with them. I am looking into Africa next.

I just got back from backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, and WOW. What an unreal journey! The alpine meadows, waterfalls, and the lakeside camping spot were memorable highlights! I wonder what other tours 10Adventures has to offer. That one went so well that I am now convinced I need to book another!

I'm not a big fan of traveling because of my fear of flying, but my girlfriend convinced me to go on the Aurora Borealis Tour in the Yukon. I will never forget the mesmerizing northern lights. Such a romantic (and cold) getaway. I would highly recommend it.
