Hike the mountainous, beautiful heart of Spain’s Catalonia region
Want to escape to a hiking destination far from your everyday life? Come to Catalonia, hiking through the mountains, meadows of wildflowers, serene biosphere reserves, and mountain villages where time seems to pass more slowly. The Hiking Tour in the Heart of Catalonia is an adventurous getaway into a part of Spain that’s guaranteed to capture your heart.
You’ll awake every morning in hotels and guesthouses tucked underneath the sprawling hills and mountains, your kind hosts showing you the hospitality of Catalonia. Trek through woods, across terraced hills, and through meadows completely carpeted in wildflowers. Challenge yourself to climb Montserrat, discovering a mysterious monastery and expansive views of the Pyrenees. Trek through Sant Llorenç Natural Park, an underrated gem full of spectacular cliffs, quiet trees, and wildlife. With the freedom to go at your own pace, the Hiking Tour in the Heart of Catalonia is a deep dive into Spain’s fantastic landscapes you’ll look back on for a lifetime.
Get ready for the week ahead with a welcome meeting in Montseny. This is your chance to prepare, ask questions, collect your information, and go over the route with a tour representative.
Ready to go, you’ll spend the evening enjoying Montseny at your leisure.
Set out from Montseny after breakfast, hiking into the nearby natural park and biosphere reserve. You’ll pass through holm oak forests with birds overhead and animals around you. You’ll finish strong with a bit of a hill, but you’ll be well rewarded with a great view over the Pyrenees.
You’ll enjoy a bit of an easier walk today, but the scenery is guaranteed to impress. Walk up to the Cingles de Berti cliffs, dramatic rocky formations that are definitely worth a photo. Continue along a trail with spectacular views across the Congost River and the Montseny massif- unforgettable!
You’ll hike past historical sites, through terraced fields, and past waterfalls. You’ll be picked up and driven to your hotel at the end of your trail.
After savouring your breakfast and coffee, you’ll begin hiking through pine forests and pretty fields. Most of today will be spent on lovely forested trails. Your accommodations tonight are a small welcoming guesthouse, where the owner, Teresa, and her family await your arrival.
Got your camera all ready to go? You’re going to want it today! You’ll be admiring the Catalonian Serralada Litoral Mountains all day, and the rolling mountains, carpets of wildflowers, and ancient ruins interspersed with quaint villages will delight you.
You can climb up to La Mola peak (optional) if you want a real birds-eye view, and then it’s down to Mura, a medieval village nestled into the rolling hills.
Saying goodbye to Mura, you’ll walk through a sparsely-populated region mostly dominated by Mediterranean pine forests. The hidden gem of Sant Llorenç Natural Park is waiting to be discovered by you, so spend some time strolling its dramatic rock formations.
You won’t want to leave the park, but dinner and time to rest in Rellinars will be welcome tonight.
Begin the morning by setting out towards the monastery with Montserrat mountain silhouetted behind. The mountain will be your ever-present companion today as you ascend to the El Cavell Bernat, El Serrat de les Barretines, and El Serrat del Vent rock formations.
If climbing all the way up to Montserrat Monastery is too much today, you can take the train from Monistrol de Montserrat (not included) to shorten your trip.
You’ve conquered Catalonia! Either head to the airport to depart or book an extension to spend a few more days in the area.

I’ve been using 10A route guides for a while, but had never booked a tour. My wife and I booked a self-guided hike in Greece and were so impressed with how we were able navigate the route without a guide with the detailed and easy to follow itinerary. We enjoy travelling independently, and 10A made that happen.

I’ve adventured around a lot of Canada and the US, but I’ve always wanted to explore other parts of the world. I felt a bit scared before booking my trip to Israel, but my conversations with the team at 10Adventures helped ease any worry. I can’t wait to explore more of the world!

Travel companies have had to go through a lot during the pandemic but 10Adventures were super flexible and accommodating nonetheless. I had to cancel my tour in France due to the pandemic. 10Adventures was great and let me reschedule for a later date!

Whenever I’m looking for my next adventure 10Adventures never fails. Their routes all over England are my main go to for exploring and I have only had great experiences booking both guided and self-guided trips in Europe and South America with them. I am looking into Africa next.

I just got back from backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, and WOW. What an unreal journey! The alpine meadows, waterfalls, and the lakeside camping spot were memorable highlights! I wonder what other tours 10Adventures has to offer. That one went so well that I am now convinced I need to book another!

I'm not a big fan of traveling because of my fear of flying, but my girlfriend convinced me to go on the Aurora Borealis Tour in the Yukon. I will never forget the mesmerizing northern lights. Such a romantic (and cold) getaway. I would highly recommend it.
