Welcome to Islamabad, Pakistan! Meet your guide and/or group leader at the airport and head to your hotel for an introduction and tour briefing. Day 2 Islamabad – Chilas

Get an early start today for the long ride to Chilas. Ride comfortably in an air-conditioned van or coach along the amazing Karakorum Highway. Take in the spectacular scenery as you follow the Indus River through steep gorges all the way to Chilas. Don’t miss the views as you cross the Babusar Pass (4,173 m / 13,691 ft), which is quite an experience. If the Babusar Pass is not safe to cross, you will get to Chilas via the Naran Valley which follows the Kunhar River through lush green valleys and also offers majestic mountain scenery. When you arrive in Chilas, you’ll notice that though it is on the banks of the Indus River, it is a dry, barren place. Spend the night in a comfortable hotel and enjoy the amazing panoramic vistas from Chilas.
Overnight Location: Shangri La Hotel, Chilas
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3 Chilas – Karimabad, Hunza Valley

Continue on the Karakorum Highway from Chilas to Karimabad in the Hunza Valley. You’ll understand why this amazing road is often referred to as the 8th Wonder of the World. You’ll see some of the most incredible mountain scenery in the world, including clear views of Nanga Parbat (8,126 m / 26,660 ft) and Rakaposhi (7,788 m / 25,551 ft), as well as the point where the mighty Karakorum, Hindu Kush, and Himalaya mountain ranges meet. After arriving in Karimabad, visit a local bazaar and experience the local hospitality.
Overnight Location: Hilltop Hotel, Karimabad
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4 Karimabad – Khunejrab Pass – Passu

Another early morning today as you continue along the Karakorum Highway toward the Khunjerab Pass (4,693 m / 15,397 ft). Along the way, you’ll get a preview of the brilliantly blue Attabad Lake, where you will get to spend more time tomorrow. This relatively new lake was formed as a result of a catastrophic landslide in 2010 that dammed the Hunza River about 10 km upstream from Karimabad. Take in more spectacular sights during the journey, such as the hanging Passu Glacier and the massive Batura Glacier, which is 57 km long and ranks among the world’s longest non-polar glaciers. You will also see the majestic Passu Cones, also known as Tupopdan (6,106 m / 20,033 ft). As the road takes you through the lovely towns of Gulmit and Sost, you will be warmly welcomed by the local townspeople. Finally, you’ll arrive at the Khunjerab Pass, the highest point on the Karakorum Highway, which also marks the border between Pakistan and China. Spend a wonderful afternoon here, then travel to Passu to spend the night in a hotel with more incredible views of the Passu Glacier and the Passu Cones.
Overnight Location: Ambassador Hotel, Passu
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5 Passu – Karimabad, Hunza Valley

Leave early this morning to return to Karimabad in the Hunza Valley. But first, return to Attabad Lake to enjoy this beautiful location by boating or jet-skiing. Then head to the incredible Hussaini Suspension Bridge, which crosses the Hunza River delta. You’ll marvel at this bridge, which is one of the world’s longest pedestrian suspension bridges. Finally, you’ll reach Karimabad in time to revisit the local bazaar for more local hospitality.
Overnight Location: Hilltop Hotel, Karimabad
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 6 Sightseeing in the Hunza Valley

There is so much to see and do in the extraordinary Hunza Valley, and you get to spend today seeing the highlights of it. According to legend, the local people, known as Hunzakuts, are descended from five lost soldiers from Alexander the Great’s army. Explore their history and culture, starting with the Baltit and Altit forts. These old forts are more than 600 years old and their architecture will astound you. You will also have the opportunity to further explore the markets of Karimabad, where the local apricots are highly recommended. As you explore the valley, you will often see some breathtaking views of Lady Finger (6,000 m / 19,685 ft). If there is time, visit the spectacular Hopper Glacier, which is one of the region’s fastest moving glaciers. In the evening, wrap up your day at a place that is often called Heaven on Earth – the Duikar Top. From here you can look down across the whole Hunza Valley, framed by five peaks that are more than 7,000 m (22,966 ft) tall: Rakaposhi (7,788 m / 25,551 ft), Ultar (7,388 m / 24,239 ft), Diran Peak (7,266 m / 23,839 ft), and Spantik (7,027 m / 23,054 ft).
Overnight Location: Hilltop Hotel, Karimabad
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 7 Hunza – Chilas

Start early on the long but spectacular drive back to Chilas along the Karakorum Highway. Once again, you will have the opportunity to take in the incredible scenery but coming from the opposite direction will give you a slightly different perspective. Witness the grandeur of the Himalaya, Hindu Kush, and Karakoram ranges at the place where they meet, and marvel at the imposing peaks of Nanga Parbat (8,126 m / 26,660 ft) and Rakaposhi (7,788 m / 25,551 ft). Once again, enjoy the beauty of Chilas and the Indus River.
Overnight Location: Shangri La Hotel, Chilas
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 8 Chilas – Islamabad

The route for your return trip to Islamabad depends once again on the conditions at the Babusar Pass (4,173 m / 13,691 ft). If it is safe to cross the pass, you’ll continue along the Karakorum Highway for another chance to experience this incredible crossing. If the Babusar Pass is deemed unsafe to cross, then you’ll enjoy following the Kunhar River along the Naran Valley route. Either way, the views are incredible. Spend the night in Islamabad in preparation for your departure tomorrow.
Overnight Location: Roomy Isb Atlas, Islamabad
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
