Itinerary for Island Hopping in Maluku Archipelago
Arrival Ambon
Arrive in Ambon driver where your driver will pick you up and take you to your hotel for your first overnight.
Ambon City Tour
After breakfast you will meet with your guide and begin your exploration of Ambon by becak (bike taxi), heading first to the traditional market. After exploring the bustling market, you’ll continue by car to visit the Australian Commonwealth WW2 cemetery—an impressive site with lovely kept gardens and shady trees to walk beneath.
You’ll then head to the North of Ambon to visit the Fortress Amsterdam, built by the Portuguese. Enjoy a short walk in the area to visit the first church of Ambon which was built by the Portuguese as well as the Old Mosque built by the king of Hila.
Later, taking a scenic route you’ll pass several traditional villages on your way to Poka, from where you’ll take the bridge to Ambon city. Enjoy lunch on the way and take in the statue of local hero Marta Christina and the Pattimura Monument before heading back to your hotel in Ambon.
Set Sail for Saparua Island
During the ride to the harbour of Tulehu this morning, stop for typical Indonesian snacks for the ride. In Tulehu set sail for the beautiful island of Saparua, just east of Ambon. Once here, visit the pottery village ‘Ouw’ and Fort Bij Duurstede before further explorations at your leisure.
Sail to Nusa Laut and Snorkel
In the morning, depart after breakfast for the harbour of Haria, where a boat is ready to sail to Nusa Laut.
Up first on the island, visit the birthplace of Martha Christina Tiahahu in the village Abuba. After visiting the monument, take a lovely dip in the lake here before strolling along the coast to Sila where you can take in the fascinating fort of Beverwijck.
Later, opt to snorkel in the colourful waters of Nusa Laut before sailing back to Haria.
Villages and Traditions in Namano
Today you will be transferred from your hotel to the harbour where you’ll board a fast boat to Namano. Upon arrival, you will be taken to your hotel here, with a stop along the way to On the way to visit the Alifuru Village. Legend has that the original Alifuru people were the first humans to inhabit the island of Seram as well as other areas of the Maluku Islands. Enjoy some time here soaking up the culture and traditions of these fascinating people then continue back to your hotel in Sawai.
Snorkelling in Sawai
This morning travel by boat to Batu Supun for some of the best snorkelling of the islands. Enjoy a packed lunch on the beach then some free time for the rest of the day.
Jungle River Tour and Waterfalls
Today you’ll enjoy a thrilling jungle tour along the Salawai River. Keep your eyes peeled for crocodiles sunbathing on the waterfront. It is possible to see the production of Sago on the riverbank as well.
In the afternoon there is time for some more snorkelling (optional)!
Boat to Saleman
Today you will take a fastboat to Saleman. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to Amahai and then continue with another boat ride to Tulehu (Ambon). You will be transferred to your hotel once you arrived. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.
Departure
Today you will be picked up by your driver and transferred to the airport as your adventure has now come to an end.
