The incredible Jericho to Jerusalem through Wadi Qelt Hiking journey from Jericho to Jerusalem is the perfect introduction to the natural beauty of the West Bank region that spans Palestine and Israel. Journeying on foot, you’ll experience these iconic areas in a truly unique and spectacular way.
Discover ancient sacred monasteries and follow the age-old winding aqueducts of the Wadi Qelt. Challenge yourself as you navigate gorges and ascend cliffs, gaining access to all the wonders of this captivating landscape. 2 adventure-filled days await you on the short but sweet Jericho to Jerusalem through Wadi Qelt Trek!
After a briefing, a short transfer will drop your luggage at tonight’s accommodations in Kfar Adumim before continuing to the trailhead near st. George monastery (around 5 km from Jericho) where you’ll begin your hiking journey.
Enjoy the iconic view of the St. George Monastery built high into the cliffs above before visiting it up close. Explore the ancient aqueducts dating back to the time of King Herod as you step back in time.
The dramatic desert scenery continues all the way to the end of today’s hike at your accommodations in Kfar Adumim.
Today following breakfast, you’ll jump right back into the exciting trail straight from your accommodations at Kfar Adumim.
Descending back to Ein Maboa, you’ll enter again into Wadi Qelt. A challenging but exhilarating few kilometres lie ahead as you hike with the help of metal handlers, passing beautiful pools and the stream of Ein Prat.
Take in the splendour of the second iconic monastery on this trail, the Faran Monastery, which also hangs from a cliff above.
Finally, you’ll arrive at the unique secular settlement of Anatot, where your hike concludes. Take some time to explore and learn about this ideological community before taking a transfer back to your accommodations in Kfar Adomim. The tour ends here!

All transfers noted on the route are included for hikers on both days of the tour. Luggage is transferred on day 1 to the accommodation in Kfar Adumim.

We rate this tour a 3/5. Hikers should be comfortable hiking up to 7 hours a day but will only do so for two days. Please note that although hiking in the gorge is easy, there are a few technical parts.

How do I get to Jerusalem to start this tour?
Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) is the closest airport to your start point in Jerusalem. The most convenient and fastest way to get to Jerusalem from the airport is via Train. Alternatively, you can book airport transfers as part of your tour for an additional fee.
What should I expect when hiking in the desert?
The spring season (March and April) is the best time for this tour, as the weather is generally not too hot and makes for comfortable hiking. Proper hydration at all times and is important when hiking on this tour. If hot temperatures are forecasted, consider avoiding hiking during the hottest part of the day.
Where does the Jericho to Jerusalem through Wadi Qelt Hiking Tour end?
The tour ends in Kfar Adomim, where you can take a bus to Jerusalem. From Jerusalem, you can easily reach the airport via train.

Some sections of the trail pass through remote desert areas without any cellular reception. You will also pass near small Bedouin settlements. Some may consider these areas unsafe, although the last time a terror incident occurred in the Wadi Qelt was in 1997. Others consider it safe and hike here regularly. Please note that hiking in this area is at your own risk.
