Perched between the plains and the glaciers, Los Ponchos is one of the best hotels in the area, with impressive views of Lake Argentino.
See the best of Patagonia without compromising on the finer things
Patagonia is a wild, untamed, rugged destination, but that doesn’t mean you need to rough it here! The Patagonia Luxury Tour captures the best of this legendary landscape’s glaciers, mountains, and lakes in the most comfortable, accommodating way. You’ll be staying in upscale hotels, dining on fine Argentine food and wine, and enjoying intimate, personalized tours to the top landmarks the area has to offer.
No sight is spared on this luxury tour, with excursions to Lago del Desierto, Los Glaciares, Fitz Roy, and Perito Moreno all on the itinerary. You’ll sit at the table of a local rancher and sip tea, cruise on a boat over alpine lakes, and take guided private treks to bewildering viewpoints. Watch the reel of mountaintops and valleys fly by in your private transfers and enjoy the views away from the crowds. Clink your glass, don your hiking shoes, and get ready for a luxury experience in Patagonia that captures the finer side of it all!
Making it to El Calafate means making it to the gateway to Los Glaciares National Park, the gem of Patagonia. If you’ve got time after travelling, you can go birdwatching at Laguna Nimes or visit the ice museum, perhaps with a drink at the ice bar included.
Waking up in Patagonia, your first adventure will involve stepping back in time at the estancias, the traditional Patagonian ranches that once had over 20,000 sheep living in them. Adventure from one estancia to the next, ending up at Nibepo Aike, where the family will share their history and show you how sheep were sheared prior to modern technology.
Next up is the Perito Moreno Glacier. Sail across the Brazo Rico, then take a laidback walk in the forest to reach a viewpoint of the glacier, marvelling at its pale blue, sheer faces. Returning to the ship, you’ll sail to the southern face of the glacier, sipping whiskey while you admire the incredible ice. This small-group expedition is a much quieter way to experience Patagonia’s most-photographed glacier.
The day ends with a drop-off at your hotel in El Calafate.
Savour breakfast before departing for El Chaltén, a gorgeous drive with the mountains flanking the highway. After a post-arrival lunch, it’s on to the home of Andreas Madsen, a Danish man who lives in the valley with his family. Their unique history paints a picture of local life in this less-hospitable region.
After tea at his own dining room table, you’ll drive back to town to try out the assortment of restaurants and bars in the evening.
Those mountaintops have surely been taunting you throughout your adventures so far, but you don’t have to wait any longer to explore them! Hike through Patagonia’s unmatched Los Glaciares National Park with a guide today, choosing between a path to Laguna de los Tres or a shorter hike that still allows you to enjoy the scenery. If you’re up for it, we recommend the Laguna de los Tres trail for quintessential views of Fitz Roy rising dramatically over the lake, truly one of the most recognizable scenes in Patagonia.
Yesterday’s beauty will be hard to beat, but today will come quite close. Driving through pristine valleys, beside the Continental Icefield, and alongside the Los Cóndores Range, you’ll have plenty to admire before stopping next to a thundering waterfall to stretch your legs. Arrive at Lago del Desierto, where you’ll hike up to the Huemul Glacier viewpoint. This area is uniquely lush and humid for Patagonia and the perfect place to enjoy a typical Argentine lunch of cheese, cold meats, olives, and wine or beer.
After a perfect picnic, boat along Lago del Desierto, simply pristine with the snow-capped Andes framing it.
Your 6 days in Patagonia are sure to be days you never forget. To complete the tour, you’ll drive back to El Calafate and depart from the local airport. Until next time!

I’ve been using 10Adventures route guides for a while, but had never booked a tour. My wife and I booked a self-guided hike in Greece and were so impressed with how we were able navigate the route without a guide with the detailed and easy to follow itinerary. We enjoy travelling independently, and 10Adventures made that happen.

I’ve adventured around a lot of Canada and the US, but I’ve always wanted to explore other parts of the world. I felt a bit scared before booking my trip to Israel, but my conversations with the team at 10Adventures helped ease any worry. I can’t wait to explore more of the world!

Travel companies have had to go through a lot during the pandemic but 10Adventures were super flexible and accommodating nonetheless. I had to cancel my tour in France due to the pandemic. 10Adventures was great and let me reschedule for a later date!

Communicating with 10Adventures feels like talking with a family-run business. I love to explore and travel, and exploring with the comfort of knowing I can talk to the team at 10Adventures with almost immediate feedback helps to ease any stress that comes with adventuring!

Whenever I’m looking for my next adventure 10Adventures never fails. Their routes all over England are my main go to for exploring and I have only had great experiences booking both guided and self-guided trips in Europe and South America with them. I am looking into Africa next.

I just got back from backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, and WOW. What an unreal journey! The alpine meadows, waterfalls, and the lakeside camping spot were memorable highlights! I wonder what other tours 10Adventures has to offer. That one went so well that I am now convinced I need to book another!

I'm not a big fan of traveling because of my fear of flying, but my girlfriend convinced me to go on the Aurora Borealis Tour in the Yukon. I will never forget the mesmerizing northern lights. Such a romantic (and cold) getaway. I would highly recommend it.
