Welcome to Portugal’s second-largest city, Porto! A private transfer will take you from the airport to your accommodations in Porto.
You’ll receive your bike this afternoon, followed by a guided tour through the city. Topping off your first day in Porto in style, you’ll visit a wine cellar where you’ll enjoy wine tasting and a traditional Fado music show.
After dinner, head back to your accommodations for a good night’s rest!
Hop on your bike for an exciting first day of exploring! You’ll depart from Porto via a passage through the river of Porto and Gaia, crossing the famous Dom Luis I bridge (UNESCO World Heritage Site), continuing along beautiful beaches until you reach Esmoriz. This part of the path is breathtaking, with spectacular beachfront scenery and roads lined with lush green pine forest.
From Esmoriz, you’ll ride to Furadouro, where you’ll have two options for the next part of your ride, depending on the season.
Option 1: Fall 90 km ride
Continue along the river to Aviero, made possible by a lack of rain leading up to this season.
Option 2: Spring 84 km ride
Due to heavy mud on the route during this season, you’ll ride to São Jacinto, taking a short ferry to Costa Nova and then continuing to Aviero.
Reach your accommodations in the beautiful city of Aviero, known as the Venice of Portugal. Aviero is set along the Ria de Aveiro Lagoon and boasts numerous scenic canals, dotted with colorful boats. Visit the Cathedral of Aviero and check out the Museu de Aviero, where you’ll discover a grand tomb made of marble. Enjoy dinner in Aviero tonight, soaking up the sites and sounds of this fascinating city.
Departing Aviero, you'll ride to Ílhavo, where you'll explore the Vista Alegre Museum, Portugal's world-renowned porcelain factory. Enjoy a coffee in the museum's pleasant café before hopping back on your bike, tracing the river of the road leading to Amira Beach.
This afternoon you'll ride through the beautiful, forested roads of the Pinhais de Mira and the Mata do Urso. The natural beauty that marks this ride is a sight to behold. Admiring the beauty of the Quiaios Lagoon along the way, you'll ride to a viewpoint on Serra da Boa Viagem that will leave you in awe of this magical landscape.
Continuing the road, you'll ride to the beaches of Figueira da Foz, where you'll find tonight's accommodations. Enjoy a laid-back evening in this beach resort city, relaxing on the sandy shores and enjoying some delicious local seafood!
Departing via the bridge of Figueira this morning, you’ll enter a spectacular landscape characterized by salt pans and rice fields. Keep your eyes peeled for the diverse birdlife here, including the hot pink flamingo! You’ll have a chance to visit the Ecomuseum of Salt (included), where you’ll learn the intricacies of artisanal salt production.
Back on your bike, the road continues to the beautiful Atlantic coast, where you’ll ride to São Pedro de Moel by way of Pedrógão.
Your accommodations are in the beautiful beach village of Pedrógão, a peaceful and scenic town home to just under 400 local inhabitants. Enjoy a relaxed evening here, getting a taste of small seaside village life on the Portuguese coast.
A challenging day of cycling lies ahead as you begin to ride the steeper and increasingly spectacular coastline. Your first stop is Nazare, known as Portugal’s most famous fishing village! This quaint fisherman’s town has preserved a sense of the past and provides an authentic Portuguese traditional experience like no other place.
Leaving the pleasant town of Nazare, you’ll ascend a road to Serra da Pescaria, winning you spectacular views of the surrounding sea and windmills that paint the landscape. The next stretch of the ride to tonight’s accommodations in Óbidos is magical, travelling across roads lined with orchards and vineyards. Tonight in Óbidos, you’ll enjoy strolling the streets and taking in the well-preserved medieval architecture overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
Today as the coast becomes sharper and steeper, you’ll embark on your most challenging day of cycling but will also see some of the most beautiful scenery on this route.
Ride through the rich agricultural landscapes leading to Paimogo Fort. A breathtaking succession of beaches awaits you on the next stretch of road, leading you alongside the beaches of Areia Branca, Porto Dinheiro, and Santa Cruz.
Pleasantly charmed by the serene ride, you’ll arrive in the surfer’s paradise of Ericeira, where you’ll find tonight’s accommodations. This colourful seaside town is home to powerful waves, making it the perfect place to post up and watch the surf. It has a relaxed daytime atmosphere and a lively nightlife, perfect for enjoying a dinner out with some live music.
Today, your final day of cycling will immerse you further in the beautiful natural landscape of the coast as you ride past beaches and cliffs, as well as the stunning mountain range of Sintra.
The road will take you from Malveira da Serra to tonight’s final stay at Cascais.
Cascais is a popular resort town that boasts pristine beaches and numerous restaurants and shops. Enjoy your final dinner on the tour tonight in this charming Portuguese seaside town.

I’ve been using 10Adventures route guides for a while, but had never booked a tour. My wife and I booked a self-guided hike in Greece and were so impressed with how we were able navigate the route without a guide with the detailed and easy to follow itinerary. We enjoy travelling independently, and 10Adventures made that happen.

I’ve adventured around a lot of Canada and the US, but I’ve always wanted to explore other parts of the world. I felt a bit scared before booking my trip to Israel, but my conversations with the team at 10Adventures helped ease any worry. I can’t wait to explore more of the world!

Travel companies have had to go through a lot during the pandemic but 10Adventures were super flexible and accommodating nonetheless. I had to cancel my tour in France due to the pandemic. 10Adventures was great and let me reschedule for a later date!

Whenever I’m looking for my next adventure 10Adventures never fails. Their routes all over England are my main go to for exploring and I have only had great experiences booking both guided and self-guided trips in Europe and South America with them. I am looking into Africa next.

I just got back from backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, and WOW. What an unreal journey! The alpine meadows, waterfalls, and the lakeside camping spot were memorable highlights! I wonder what other tours 10Adventures has to offer. That one went so well that I am now convinced I need to book another!

I'm not a big fan of traveling because of my fear of flying, but my girlfriend convinced me to go on the Aurora Borealis Tour in the Yukon. I will never forget the mesmerizing northern lights. Such a romantic (and cold) getaway. I would highly recommend it.
