Ride from the mountains to the sea to see the best of Catalonia
The From the Pyrenees to the Sea Bike Tour is a favourite, and for very good reason! This tour takes you to a true slice of paradise, leading you through the stunning mountain valleys of the Pyrenees down to the unbelievable Costa Brava, combining the mountains and the ocean for a tour that’s truly the best of everything.
Beginning in the postcard-worthy Pyrenees, you’ll take laidback bike rides under summits and through gorgeous valleys. Stop into the villages dotting the La Vall d’en Bas, then watch the mountains give way to the sea as you ride towards the coast. This part of the Mediterranean coastline is one of the most divine, where the Costa Brava boasts its unbeatable sand and sea. Ride through neatly-kept vineyards, chat with locals, and let the warm terracotta hues of the local villages colour your days. Revel in the chatter of fishing villages or lay back on the warm sand, letting the Spanish sun work its magic. The From the Pyrenees to the Sea Bike Tour is a peek into paradise that you’ll never want to depart from.
You’ll be picked up from the airport and taken to Setcases to begin your tour. Take part in an orientation session to get all the information you’ll need and have your bike fitted to you.
Once you’re all set, enjoy a walk around Setcases, perhaps seeking out some dessert or a glass of wine.
Get ready to get going! After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Vallter. You’ll begin riding down for a ski area near the Ter River. Descend alongside the river, stopping in Sant Joan de les Abbesses for lunch and a coffee.
Continuing along the Via Verde del Ferro greenway, you’ll finish your ride in Ripoli, where you should carve out some time to visit the gorgeous Romanesque monastery of Santa Maria de Ripoli.
Today you’ll ride from Ripoli to Sant Joan de les Abadesses, where the unique old town centre beckons for a quick break, which you should take before a few slightly heavier climbs. Crest the Hill of Capascosta, cruising downhill with the satisfaction that the tougher climbs are behind you.
You’ll whiz through forests and past dormant volcanoes to Olot, where you can find a local spot for a tasty dinner.
This morning, you’ll head out towards Girona via an old railway track. Cruise through the valley of La Vall d’en Bas, a beautiful verdant corridor known as the “Catalan Switzerland.” Picture-perfect villages dot the valley, and you can dip into any or all of them on the way.
Reconnect with the Ter River, following it all the way into the heart of Girona.
Leave the mountains in the rearview as you bike towards the legendary Costa Brava, one of Spain’s most renowned destinations, with dreamy water. white sand, and historic towns dotting the coast for miles. You’ll ride the El Carrilet railway to get there, a great purpose-built pathway that lets you just enjoy the view of the Mediterranean unfolding before you.
Reach Sant Feliu, a pretty port with a rich cultural and historical scene. Your hotel is right in front of the beach, so spend the evening soaking up the beauty of this near-perfect place.
It’s all about the ocean today as you ride along the coast, tracing the Palamós Bay. Visit quaint fishing villages like Platja d’Aro, where the catch of the day is irresistible. If you head inland you’ll find the neat rows of vineyards.
Spend tonight in Calella de Palafrugell, an ultra-charming fishing village.
After awaking in the spectacular Costa Brava, you’ll ride inland towards Baix Empordà, where the charm of the area’s ancient villages is irresistible. Ride past several of these villages, admiring the pretty terracotta hues as you pass by. You’re free today to drift between towns, stopping where you please for tapas, a glass of wine, or a chat with a friendly local.
Return to Calella whenever you’re ready.
Leaving this idyllic part of Spain is tough to do, so consider booking an extension to continue exploring the area. Otherwise, you’ll transfer to the airport to depart.

I’ve been using 10Adventures route guides for a while, but had never booked a tour. My wife and I booked a self-guided hike in Greece and were so impressed with how we were able navigate the route without a guide with the detailed and easy to follow itinerary. We enjoy travelling independently, and 10Adventures made that happen.

I’ve adventured around a lot of Canada and the US, but I’ve always wanted to explore other parts of the world. I felt a bit scared before booking my trip to Israel, but my conversations with the team at 10Adventures helped ease any worry. I can’t wait to explore more of the world!

Travel companies have had to go through a lot during the pandemic but 10Adventures were super flexible and accommodating nonetheless. I had to cancel my tour in France due to the pandemic. 10Adventures was great and let me reschedule for a later date!

My wife Sarah and I had a great experience booking our 7-day cycling trip through Portugal via 10Adventures. The communication between us and Nadine leading up the trip was top-notch!

Communicating with 10Adventures feels like talking with a family-run business. I love to explore and travel, and exploring with the comfort of knowing I can talk to the team at 10Adventures with almost immediate feedback helps to ease any stress that comes with adventuring!

Whenever I’m looking for my next adventure 10Adventures never fails. Their routes all over England are my main go to for exploring and I have only had great experiences booking both guided and self-guided trips in Europe and South America with them. I am looking into Africa next.

I just got back from backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, and WOW. What an unreal journey! The alpine meadows, waterfalls, and the lakeside camping spot were memorable highlights! I wonder what other tours 10Adventures has to offer. That one went so well that I am now convinced I need to book another!

I'm not a big fan of traveling because of my fear of flying, but my girlfriend convinced me to go on the Aurora Borealis Tour in the Yukon. I will never forget the mesmerizing northern lights. Such a romantic (and cold) getaway. I would highly recommend it.

Wow! I am so happy with the experience I had with booking through 10Adventures for my tour in Italy! I worked with Nadine and she was super easy-going and helpful when it came to tweaking the itinerary provided on the website. 10/10 would book through 10Adventures again.
