Discover diverse landscapes as you walk the paths of beautiful Samos Island
This 8-day walking holiday proves there is much more to the Greek Islands than beaches! On the island of Samos, you’ll spend your days on self-guided walks exploring impressive mountains, lush orchards, ancient ruins, and gorgeous beaches.
This trip divides your stay into three different villages so that you can experience the best walks available throughout the entire island. In Karlovasi, you’ll visit forests, waterfalls, and a hidden chapel. When you stay in Kokkari, you’ll enjoy walking to the seaside and mountain villages. Finally, you’ll end your tour in Pythagorion, where you’ll visit 6th-century ruins and be rewarded with breathtaking vistas of the surrounded sapphire sea. The Samos Holiday Walking Tour gives you insight into a lesser-known Greek island—and you won’t soon forget it!
An arrival transfer will meet you at the Samos airport when you arrive and drive you to Karlovasi. Send the evening exploring this lively university town. Be sure to visit the nearby village square for dinner.
Today, your walk is a big circuit that begins up the hill to Old Karlovasi. As you leave the town behind, you’ll head into a mystical forest filled with rivers, waterfalls, and even an old chapel hidden within a cave. You may want to stop for a refreshing dip at Potami Beach before continuing your walk to Leka.
Admire the views from the town square before beginning your walk down the coast to Karlovasi.
You can take a taxi to Potami Beach to begin your hike today (option nr. 1) or walk there from your hotel (option nr. 2). Alternatively, you can start your walk from Karlovasi, to make your loop even bigger (option nr. 3).
Your coastal walk will take you along bluffs and beaches, including Mikro Seitaini and Megalo Seitaini. The trail turns inland through olive groves and offers beautiful viewpoints. Your circuit ends at Potami Beach, where you can walk or grab a taxi back to your hotel.
Say goodbye to Karlovasi this morning and head for your new home base in Kokkari. You can get there by taxi, public transport, or you can pre-book a transfer.
Once you’ve arrived and settled in, you’ll begin the Great Loop Walk that offers remarkable views that span the coast and the sparkling waters. With binoculars, you can see all the way to Turkey! You can also take a short detour to visit the monastery of Vronta, originally built in 1566 but nearly destroyed in a fire in 1999, now almost fully restored.
Your walk today begins in the village of Agios Konstantinos. You can get there easily by public bus or taxi. You’ll walk from the small port town towards the village of Stavrinides. The route runs on historic cobbled paths that travel through lush fields, fragrant vineyards, and olive groves.
You’ll eventually reach Manolates, which is considered to be the most picturesque village on Samos. Your route will eventually lead you back to Agios Konstantinos.
Today, you’ll move again, so you can pre-book your transfer or take the bus or taxi to your new hotel in Pythagorion. During the afternoon, you can explore the town, visit the nearby sandy beaches, or visit the ancient aqueduct.
Take a short hike to Mount Kastro and see the ruins of the ancient city walls.
Take a taxi to the village of Myli to begin today's roundtrip walk through rural landscapes. You’ll travel through the lush vegetation of regrowth after a forest fire in 2000. Stop to visit the Monastery of Megali Panagia near Koumaradei.
On your way back to Myli, you’ll have glorious views of Chora.
Once you’ve had your breakfast, your transfer will meet you to transport you to the Samos Airport, where your tour comes to a close.

I’ve been using 10Adventures route guides for a while, but had never booked a tour. My wife and I booked a self-guided hike in Greece and were so impressed with how we were able navigate the route without a guide with the detailed and easy to follow itinerary. We enjoy travelling independently, and 10Adventures made that happen.

I’ve adventured around a lot of Canada and the US, but I’ve always wanted to explore other parts of the world. I felt a bit scared before booking my trip to Israel, but my conversations with the team at 10Adventures helped ease any worry. I can’t wait to explore more of the world!

Travel companies have had to go through a lot during the pandemic but 10Adventures were super flexible and accommodating nonetheless. I had to cancel my tour in France due to the pandemic. 10Adventures was great and let me reschedule for a later date!

Whenever I’m looking for my next adventure 10Adventures never fails. Their routes all over England are my main go to for exploring and I have only had great experiences booking both guided and self-guided trips in Europe and South America with them. I am looking into Africa next.

I just got back from backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, and WOW. What an unreal journey! The alpine meadows, waterfalls, and the lakeside camping spot were memorable highlights! I wonder what other tours 10Adventures has to offer. That one went so well that I am now convinced I need to book another!

I'm not a big fan of traveling because of my fear of flying, but my girlfriend convinced me to go on the Aurora Borealis Tour in the Yukon. I will never forget the mesmerizing northern lights. Such a romantic (and cold) getaway. I would highly recommend it.
