Spend 8 days cycling the pristine coastline of Sardinia
The Sardinia by Bicycle tour is one of the most stunning ways to explore the island of Sardinia. Enjoy cycling from coastline to ancient ruins to cozy fishing villages all from the saddle of your bike.
The Sardinia by Bicycle tour begins in Cagliari, best known for the Castello, a fortified Medieval district situated on a hillside above the rest of the town. Visit the famous 13th Century cathedral in town, or take a tour of the National Archaeological Museum to learn about the Roman and Byzantine history of the region. The cycling tour will then begin with a stunning ride along the coast to the port of Portovesme.
Take a ferry to San Pietro, where the distinct culture of the people makes you feel as if you’re in a new region altogether. Sip excellent wine on Sant’Antioco Island before looping lazily around the entire island on your bike. Trade your steed for a real horse to explore, or take a boat excursion across the sea. Dip into caves, pack a fun picnic lunch, or take some time to explore the historic churches on the island.
After making your way to Porto Pino through the countryside and picturesque vineyards, you can relax on the famous Porto Pino Dunes Beach, before traveling along the breathtaking route known as the Costa del Sud to visit some well-preserved Roman mosaics.
The delights of the Sardinia by Bicycle tour are endless, and you won’t want to leave the glimmering sea of Pula when it’s time to head home.
Welcome to Sardinia! You’ll spend the day in Cagliari, a town best known for the Castello, a fortified district situated on a hillside high above the rest of the city. Take some time to explore the stunning architecture that can be found here, including the 13th Century cathedral, before heading over to the National Archaeological Museum to investigate artifacts dating from the Bronze Age through to the Byzantine Empire.
After a filling breakfast, you will transfer to the town of Nebida to begin your cycling adventure. Here, you will cycle along the coast for 25km to the port of Portovesme, before taking a ferry ride to the lovely island of San Pietro. After exploring the harbour town of Carloforte and its Genoese heritage, you will take another ferry to Calasetta, to explore the beautiful wines of Sant’Antioco.
You have plenty of options today! You can ride your bike all the way around the island, taking a break at whichever inlet strikes your fancy for a picnic. Maybe you’d prefer to go out fishing, or trade your bike for a horse and explore the island on horseback. Perhaps you’d just like to lay back at the beach and let the sun warm you- it’s up to you!
The first stop on this day of the tour is the village of Tratalias, where you will visit the church of S. Maria di Montserrat. Take some time to explore the ancient village and visit the still intact Baroque arches that once served as entrances to the citadel. From here, you will cycle through the picturesque vineyards and surrounding countryside on the way to Porto Pino.
Today is another day that is completely at your own leisure. One option is to take a ride inland to explore several charming villages, such as Sant’Anna Arresi, and stop for a relaxing picnic lunch. After your ride, head down to the Porto Pino dunes to lay out in the sun along this famous beach with pink sand.
Today, you’ll continue your cycling tour of Sardinia with a trip to the villages of Masinas and Santadi, the latter of which is home to a famous winery. From here, you will ride past the fascinating caves at Zuddas before taking a quiet trail to Teulada, which is known for terracotta goods and beautiful embroidery. Need any souvenirs?
Muster your energy, because today is some of the best cycling of the trip! You’ll ride along the Costa del Sud, an undulating trail with stunning views of the ocean and inlets. If you get tired, just stop for a dip in the crystal clear water. You’ll ride to Pula, which is close to the archaeological site of Nora. The site holds impeccably preserved Roman mosaics, and it’s a fascinating stop in the afternoon.
Your last breakfast in Sardinia may feel like it comes too soon, but that just means you’ll have to return. Safe travels!

I’ve been using 10Adventures route guides for a while, but had never booked a tour. My wife and I booked a self-guided hike in Greece and were so impressed with how we were able navigate the route without a guide with the detailed and easy to follow itinerary. We enjoy travelling independently, and 10Adventures made that happen.

I’ve adventured around a lot of Canada and the US, but I’ve always wanted to explore other parts of the world. I felt a bit scared before booking my trip to Israel, but my conversations with the team at 10Adventures helped ease any worry. I can’t wait to explore more of the world!

Travel companies have had to go through a lot during the pandemic but 10Adventures were super flexible and accommodating nonetheless. I had to cancel my tour in France due to the pandemic. 10Adventures was great and let me reschedule for a later date!

Communicating with 10Adventures feels like talking with a family-run business. I love to explore and travel, and exploring with the comfort of knowing I can talk to the team at 10Adventures with almost immediate feedback helps to ease any stress that comes with adventuring!

Whenever I’m looking for my next adventure 10Adventures never fails. Their routes all over England are my main go to for exploring and I have only had great experiences booking both guided and self-guided trips in Europe and South America with them. I am looking into Africa next.

I just got back from backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, and WOW. What an unreal journey! The alpine meadows, waterfalls, and the lakeside camping spot were memorable highlights! I wonder what other tours 10Adventures has to offer. That one went so well that I am now convinced I need to book another!

I'm not a big fan of traveling because of my fear of flying, but my girlfriend convinced me to go on the Aurora Borealis Tour in the Yukon. I will never forget the mesmerizing northern lights. Such a romantic (and cold) getaway. I would highly recommend it.
