Experience Italy on the South Tyrol Family Cycling Tour
The South Tyrol Family Cycling Tour is an active holiday that the entire family will enjoy, where nature meets beautiful towns and the needs of the little cyclists in your group are never neglected! This cycling tour from Merano to beautiful Lake Garda will have you experiencing not only the famed Italian “la dolce vita”, but also plenty of action, adventure, and excellent cuisine – including gelato for those young and old! So what are you waiting for?! Hop into the bike saddle and prepare for an unforgettable adventure on the South Tyrol Family Cycling Tour!
After arriving in Merano you will check into your accommodation, where you will find your travel documents and rental bikes (if booked) waiting for you. The evening is yours to explore the surrounding area.
Today you will set off on your cycle tour from the lovely spa town of Merano. You will cycle through picturesque orchards and vineyards that have an undoubtedly Mediterranean atmosphere. Along the way you can take a short detour to the mystical labyrinth garden in Tschrems or cool down in the Nalser swimming pool. Once you have arrived in Bolzano, you can pay a visit to the Ötzi museum or you can simply relax and enjoy “la dolce vita” in the historical old town.
Day 3 of the tour will see you leave South Tyrol’s capital of Bolzano behind while cycling along the River Adige. Here is where the Adige Valley opens up to its widest point and you can really marvel at the beautifully scenic landscape. You will spend the night in Auer, which is a typical village in South Tyrol that still maintains its character and is home to genuine South Tyrolean hospitality.
After a good night’s sleep and in a good mood, you will be refreshed and ready to go for the day’s cycling adventure. You will make your way through extensive vineyards to visit the Biotop Castelfelder, stopping off at a particularly exciting place for children that features climbing rocks, ruins, and animals on your way. After, you will leave the southernmost part of South Tyrol and also cross the language border, hearing more and more Italian as you continue your journey.
Today will begin by exploring Trento, with all of its museums, heritage, and its old town. Stroll leisurely through the little streets before continuing on your bike journey. Cycle past the powerful Beseno Castle, which overlooks the Adige Valley, and follow the cycle path as it takes you through vineyards to Rovereto. In Rovereto, dinosaur fans can follow the traces of the dinosaurs on 5 small trails.
The last day of cycling on the tour will see you leave the Adige Valley on the way to Lake Garda. Along the way in Mori you can try the famous pistachio ice cream in the gelateria Bologna. After the only noticeable hill on this tour, you will speedily cycle downhill past the blue lakes to Torbole. You will spend your last night in either Torbole or Riva, two well-known holiday destinations that are well-known for their innumerable possibilities for different sports. A wonderful end to your magnificent cycle tour in Italy!
After a delicious breakfast, you will have one more chance to stroll along the shoreline of Lake Garda, before making your individual departure from the region.

I’ve been using 10Adventures route guides for a while, but had never booked a tour. My wife and I booked a self-guided hike in Greece and were so impressed with how we were able navigate the route without a guide with the detailed and easy to follow itinerary. We enjoy travelling independently, and 10Adventures made that happen.

I was going through a tough time and really needed a getaway so I decided to book a tour through 10Adventures. My trip to Peru changed my life in so many positive and eye-opening ways. I am so thankful for the kind, empathetic team at 10Adventures.

I’ve adventured around a lot of Canada and the US, but I’ve always wanted to explore other parts of the world. I felt a bit scared before booking my trip to Israel, but my conversations with the team at 10Adventures helped ease any worry. I can’t wait to explore more of the world!

Travel companies have had to go through a lot during the pandemic but 10Adventures were super flexible and accommodating nonetheless. I had to cancel my tour in France due to the pandemic. 10Adventures was great and let me reschedule for a later date!

My wife Sarah and I had a great experience booking our 7-day cycling trip through Portugal via 10Adventures. The communication between us and Nadine leading up the trip was top-notch!

Communicating with 10Adventures feels like talking with a family-run business. I love to explore and travel, and exploring with the comfort of knowing I can talk to the team at 10Adventures with almost immediate feedback helps to ease any stress that comes with adventuring!

Whenever I’m looking for my next adventure 10Adventures never fails. Their routes all over England are my main go to for exploring and I have only had great experiences booking both guided and self-guided trips in Europe and South America with them. I am looking into Africa next.

I tend to have a lot of questions before travelling and was so happy to find that the team at 10Adventures responded to every single one of my inquiries in a timely fashion. I was never left waiting and waiting for a response. This was much appreciated!

I have horrible dietary issues making it super hard to book a pre-planned trip sometimes, but the communication through 10Adventures helped me navigate this situation! I am so grateful for all of their help. I cant wait to book with them again!

I just got back from backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, and WOW. What an unreal journey! The alpine meadows, waterfalls, and the lakeside camping spot were memorable highlights! I wonder what other tours 10Adventures has to offer. That one went so well that I am now convinced I need to book another!

I'm not a big fan of traveling because of my fear of flying, but my girlfriend convinced me to go on the Aurora Borealis Tour in the Yukon. I will never forget the mesmerizing northern lights. Such a romantic (and cold) getaway. I would highly recommend it.
