Night 1-2
Hotel in Bressanone
This stunning place is the oldest town in Tyrol. Nestled among the Dolomites and near a river confluence, you’ll wonder if you stumbled into a postcard.
Ride among the Dolomites through valleys and old towns
Explore two provinces on this beautiful ride through South Tyrol and Trento. You’ll ride 270km from Bressanone, the oldest town in South Tyrol, to Lake Garda, the crown jewel of Trento. During the week-and-a-day tour, you’ll pedal among the vivid Dolomites through forested valleys and countryside areas. Stop in several hamlets, villages, and larger cities for a full experience of the culture present in this area.
What makes this area unique is its clash of cultures. In most cities you visit, you’ll find that the residents speak Italian and German, and most likely English. Visit an old spa town with Mediterranean vibes and botanical gardens, sip espresso on any number of patios, ride through valleys, and of course, end the tour in the breathtaking Lake Garda with its blue water and colourful peaks. The South Tyrol to Lake Garda Bike Tour brings you into a picturesque world with a unique cultural experience you won’t find anywhere else.
You’re in the oldest town in South Tyrol and ready to start an unforgettable journey. If you arrive early enough, take some time to explore this gorgeous Italian town nestled in the Dolomites.
In the morning transfer from Bressanone to Dobbiaco. Bike delivery in Dobbiaco. Today’s tour takes you along the cycle path past the well-known valley Pragsertal, which stretches to the south. Following the river Rienz, the bike path goes past the Olang dam and onto the Michael Pacher town of Brunico. Continue on through the Pustertal Valley, pass the Mühlbacher Klause ruins and enter into the Eisacktal Valley. Shortly before Bressanone, you can visit the Neustift Abbey, and the historical centre in Bressanone is well worth a visit too.
Starting in Bressanone, you follow the Eisacktal Valley bike path alongside the river Eisack and cycle through the many vineyards which mainly produce white wine, past the picturesque town of Chiusa which is worth stopping to look at, and onto the capital town of Bolzano. Bolzano itself has much to offer, the arcades, the lawns by the river, a visit to the Ice Man in the Archaeological Museum or sitting and drinking a coffee in one of the many cafes in the town.
Start the day with a pleasant train ride to Merano, an old spa town in South Tyrol with Mediterranean vibes. Spend the morning here visiting the botanical gardens, medieval buildings, and ornate boulevards.
Leaving Merano on your bike, you’ll ride through fragrant orchards and return to Bolzano for the night.
Fill up on breakfast, because your longest ride of the week is today. You have two options to reach your destination: ride an old railway track and include a visit to Lake Kalter and Caldaro village or continue on the wide and paved bike path in the Etsch Valley.
Further south, you’ll leave South Tyrol province and enter the renowned wine-producing area of Trento. Arrive in Trento in the evening and treat yourself to a glass of locally-made wine.
After a good night’s sleep, you’ll be ready for one last day of riding. As you pedal through the spectacular Etsch Valley, an iconic vision of the Alps, villages, and towns or northern Italy will come into view intermittently. You’ll get a heart-pumping opportunity as you climb San Giovanni Pass, then enjoy a descent to Lake Garda. This absolute gem of a town will look like an oasis after a week of riding. With the sparkling blue lake at the foreground of the Alps and the town built right on the shore, you’ll have no trouble enjoying a night here.
Find a patio and indulge in one more night of Italian hospitality with food and ever-flowing wine.
Enjoy your final breakfast and check out of the hotel to end your tour. You can choose to extend your stay when you book—and you might want to, because Lake Garda is breathtaking!

I’ve been using 10Adventures route guides for a while, but had never booked a tour. My wife and I booked a self-guided hike in Greece and were so impressed with how we were able navigate the route without a guide with the detailed and easy to follow itinerary. We enjoy travelling independently, and 10Adventures made that happen.

I’ve adventured around a lot of Canada and the US, but I’ve always wanted to explore other parts of the world. I felt a bit scared before booking my trip to Israel, but my conversations with the team at 10Adventures helped ease any worry. I can’t wait to explore more of the world!

Travel companies have had to go through a lot during the pandemic but 10Adventures were super flexible and accommodating nonetheless. I had to cancel my tour in France due to the pandemic. 10Adventures was great and let me reschedule for a later date!

Whenever I’m looking for my next adventure 10Adventures never fails. Their routes all over England are my main go to for exploring and I have only had great experiences booking both guided and self-guided trips in Europe and South America with them. I am looking into Africa next.

I just got back from backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, and WOW. What an unreal journey! The alpine meadows, waterfalls, and the lakeside camping spot were memorable highlights! I wonder what other tours 10Adventures has to offer. That one went so well that I am now convinced I need to book another!

I'm not a big fan of traveling because of my fear of flying, but my girlfriend convinced me to go on the Aurora Borealis Tour in the Yukon. I will never forget the mesmerizing northern lights. Such a romantic (and cold) getaway. I would highly recommend it.
