Night 1
Hotel in Segesta
Located in the western tip of Sicily, Segesta is an ancient city surrounded by hilly terrain. It is perfect for those who want to learn about Sicily’s rich past.
Cycle the rugged landscape of Sicily
You will discover uncontaminated places where time seems to be stopped; you will taste the typical Sicilian dishes rich of sweets and different flavours and meals as much as tasting wine from the Marsala to Bianco d’Alcamo to the Chardonnay ending with the Nero d’Avola, a portrait of Sicily that from the sea to the mountains and from art to nature will always remain in your memories.
Upon arrival, you will transfer to Segesta to be briefed about the tour, the road book, and all necessary information. Accommodation and overnight stay.
Today you will visit the archaeological site of Segesta, considered an important and evocative archeological centre due to its impressive temple with its breathtaking sea views. Segesta in the past was a prominent town of the Elymians, who came from modern-day Turkey, as well as the later Greeks and the Romans during the punic war. After, you will pedal inland through the countryside to experience the real country life in Sicily.
On day 3, you will travel along a panoramic road which borders the sea and offers amazing views of the flow mills on the salinas. You will then have the chance to visit the tiny Punic island of Mozia, where you will find an archaeological site and a private museum. Continuing for a few kilometres, you will reach Marsala and visit one of the canteens, where a special liquor, the “Marsala”, is produced.
Today you will cycle along the seaside and through a picturesque olive producing landscape. This hilly stage will lead you to Selinunte, the ancient Selinus, and will take you into the interior of the island. Leaving the flat vineyards around Marsala, you will head inland towards a softly undulating series of hills, and then down to the sea once again. Here, you will find one of the most fascinating natural workshops of construction material from the Greek period. The archaeological park surrounding Selinunte and its monuments extends about 1.300 meters east to west.
Once again cycling towards the sea, you will arrive at the enchanting town of Sciacca, an historical fishing port on the southern coast of Sicily. More of a working town than a polished tourist destination, it is famed for its ceramics, thermal baths, religious festivals, and its large fishing fleet. In the historic centre you will find interesting old churches and buildings, and it's worth wandering around with a map to admire the architecture. Many buildings date back to the sixteenth century, and the grander ones in particular stand out amongst the humble streets.
Continuing on your journey, you will discover many charming inland villages like Ribera, where local production widely ranges from rice and cotton, to wheat, oranges, almonds, and olives. Montallegro is a place full of the remains of tiles, ceramics, glass and other objects. The most ancient fragments that can be found in the centre of the settlement date back to the 4th Century BCE, while some graves date the inhabited centre to the 5th Century BCE. The location between Sciacca and Agrigento makes it a perfect place to stay overnight.
A fantastic ride will bring you to the wonderful archaeological site of Agrigento, where the stunning temples will reward you for your efforts. If time permits, you will have the chance to visit the Concordia Temple, Hercules Temple, and the Temple of Castor and Pollux, representing the most beautiful examples of architecture left behind by the Greek civilization in Sicily.
On day 8 your tour will end with a transfer to the airport. Safe travels!

I’ve been using 10Adventures route guides for a while, but had never booked a tour. My wife and I booked a self-guided hike in Greece and were so impressed with how we were able navigate the route without a guide with the detailed and easy to follow itinerary. We enjoy travelling independently, and 10Adventures made that happen.

I’ve adventured around a lot of Canada and the US, but I’ve always wanted to explore other parts of the world. I felt a bit scared before booking my trip to Israel, but my conversations with the team at 10Adventures helped ease any worry. I can’t wait to explore more of the world!

Travel companies have had to go through a lot during the pandemic but 10Adventures were super flexible and accommodating nonetheless. I had to cancel my tour in France due to the pandemic. 10Adventures was great and let me reschedule for a later date!

Communicating with 10Adventures feels like talking with a family-run business. I love to explore and travel, and exploring with the comfort of knowing I can talk to the team at 10Adventures with almost immediate feedback helps to ease any stress that comes with adventuring!

Whenever I’m looking for my next adventure 10Adventures never fails. Their routes all over England are my main go to for exploring and I have only had great experiences booking both guided and self-guided trips in Europe and South America with them. I am looking into Africa next.

I just got back from backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, and WOW. What an unreal journey! The alpine meadows, waterfalls, and the lakeside camping spot were memorable highlights! I wonder what other tours 10Adventures has to offer. That one went so well that I am now convinced I need to book another!

I'm not a big fan of traveling because of my fear of flying, but my girlfriend convinced me to go on the Aurora Borealis Tour in the Yukon. I will never forget the mesmerizing northern lights. Such a romantic (and cold) getaway. I would highly recommend it.
