Your cycling tour of Tuscany’s Val d’Orcia region begins in Buonconvento, a town rich in culture and history. Spend the evening settling into the B&B where you’ll be staying.
The day starts off in one of the most beautiful parts of Italy, and the ride to Murlo is simply incredible. After cycling through the rolling hills of the Tuscan countryside, you’ll dive into the woods to ride alongside the Crevole River. Ascending towards cliffs brings you through an oak forest to the town of La Befa. Your effort will be rewarded with picturesque views.
Today’s ride starts in fields of sunflowers almost too idyllic to believe. In Brunello wine country, the Monte Amiata volcano looms ahead and rows of olive and grape trees line the trail. If you wish to enjoy a longer ride today, cycling to Montalcino gives you the chance to explore a 14th-century fortress town before heading back to Buonconvento for the night.
A morning transfer begins the final day of your cycling tour of Val d’Orcia. Riding through the countryside of the Orcia valley definitely deserves a few photo stops, and a stop in Lucignano d’Asso is a great chance to admire the view. Finally, you’ll arrive back at the agriturismo of Pieve a Salti to relax for the evening.
The end of your Tuscan cycling adventure comes after breakfast, when it’s time to catch the train to the airport. Until next time!
