The Tuscany Val d’Orcia Cycling Tour is the perfect way to experience the best of Tuscan scenery, food, and culture in an efficient cycling trip.
The Tuscany Val d’Orcia Cycling Tour begins Buonconvento, a historically rich medieval town. After exploring the town, you’ll be transferred to the farmhouse B&B that will serve as home for the next four nights. Indulge in the first of your delicious Tuscan dinners and relax in the spa-like accommodations before the first day of cycling.
In the morning, a ride through the countryside to Murlo is as perfect as Tuscany gets. Cycling into the woods reveals the Crevole River, and trailing up to the cliffs takes you into a magical oak tree forest. From here, you’ll arrive in La Befa, where you’re treated to picture-perfect Tuscan views.
The next day’s ride takes you through Brunello wine country to the Monte Amiata volcano. The scenery is simply incredible as you pass perfectly-lined vineyards and olive groves. When you arrive in Montalcino, take a moment to explore the 14th-century fortress before cycling back to Buonconvento.
The final day of your Tuscany Val d’Orcia Cycling Tour begins with a morning transfer to Pienza, where you’ll cycle through some of the most pristine countryside in Tuscany. Halfway through the Orcia valley, make a stop in Lucignano d’Asso to grab lunch.
Finally, you’ll arrive back at the Pieve a Salti farmhouse for an evening of fine food and relaxation. In the morning, a transfer back to Buonconvento marks the end of your stellar Tuscany Val d’Orcia cycling adventure.
Your cycling tour of Tuscany’s Val d’Orcia region begins in Buonconvento, a town rich in culture and history. Spend the evening settling into the B&B where you’ll be staying.
The day starts off in one of the most beautiful parts of Italy, and the ride to Murlo is simply incredible. After cycling through the rolling hills of the Tuscan countryside, you’ll dive into the woods to ride alongside the Crevole River. Ascending towards cliffs brings you through an oak forest to the town of La Befa. Your effort will be rewarded with picturesque views.
Today’s ride starts in fields of sunflowers almost too idyllic to believe. In Brunello wine country, the Monte Amiata volcano looms ahead and rows of olive and grape trees line the trail. If you wish to enjoy a longer ride today, cycling to Montalcino gives you the chance to explore a 14th-century fortress town before heading back to Buonconvento for the night.
A morning transfer begins the final day of your cycling tour of Val d’Orcia. Riding through the countryside of the Orcia valley definitely deserves a few photo stops, and a stop in Lucignano d’Asso is a great chance to admire the view. I’ve been using 10Adventures route guides for a while, but had never booked a tour. My wife and I booked a self-guided hike in Greece and were so impressed with how we were able navigate the route without a guide with the detailed and easy to follow itinerary. We enjoy travelling independently, and 10Adventures made that happen.

I’ve adventured around a lot of Canada and the US, but I’ve always wanted to explore other parts of the world. I felt a bit scared before booking my trip to Israel, but my conversations with the team at 10Adventures helped ease any worry. I can’t wait to explore more of the world!

Travel companies have had to go through a lot during the pandemic but 10Adventures were super flexible and accommodating nonetheless. I had to cancel my tour in France due to the pandemic. 10Adventures was great and let me reschedule for a later date!

Whenever I’m looking for my next adventure 10Adventures never fails. Their routes all over England are my main go to for exploring and I have only had great experiences booking both guided and self-guided trips in Europe and South America with them. I am looking into Africa next.

I just got back from backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, and WOW. What an unreal journey! The alpine meadows, waterfalls, and the lakeside camping spot were memorable highlights! I wonder what other tours 10Adventures has to offer. That one went so well that I am now convinced I need to book another!

I'm not a big fan of traveling because of my fear of flying, but my girlfriend convinced me to go on the Aurora Borealis Tour in the Yukon. I will never forget the mesmerizing northern lights. Such a romantic (and cold) getaway. I would highly recommend it.
