Discover Croatia's gorgeous Adriatic coastline from Venice to Porec on bike
The self-guided cycling tour from Venice to Porec, Croatia is a unique opportunity to ride the Adriatic coastline all the way from Venice to Croatia. This tour offers unbeatable scenery and unforgettable experiences.
The Venice to Croatia Cycling Tour begins in Venice, Italy’s floating city. Venice is known for its beauty, and you’ll be able to explore the city by bike before starting your journey. You’ll pass old lighthouses and harbour towns before a mountain view leads the way to Portogruaro. Ride through open farmland flaking the sea before stopping off for a swim near Grado. Then, the Venice to Croatia Cycling Tour leads you through the Isonzo river delta, a protected wetland with abundant wildlife. Stop by the coastal palace of Miramare, and stroll through the gardens that house over 2000 different plant species. Ride through a corner of Slovenia and take a breather on the Slovenian Riviera before the final leg of your Venice to Croatia Cycling Tour leads you into Croatia, where you’ll explore the medieval coastal town of Porec. The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Euphrasius Basilica is the perfect place for a victory photo!
Check into your hotel, and then spend the rest of the day downtown enjoying this vibrant city. Your bike will be delivered to you directly, so you’re free to spend the evening seeing Venice as you like!
The first portion of your cycling trip from Venice to Porec starts by taking the ferry across the Venetian lagoon to Punta Sabbioni. The lighthouse nearby is definitely worth a quick detour before riding along the lagoon to Litorale di Cavallino. Feel free to take a swim if the water looks enticing! Then, you’ll cycle to Caorle, which has a great town centre and harbour to spend the evening in.
Today you’ll ride away from the ocean for a bit as you approach the Julian Alps. The view is wonderful as you cross farmland and fields towards Portogruaro. This city feels Venetian at heart, and spending the night walking along the canals and through the palaces is perfect.
Start the morning by bringing your bike on the train to Latisana. Optionally, adventurous cyclers can ride this section instead. Once you’re in Latisana, you’ll ride through serene farmland to Aquileia, with an optional stop at Palmanova, a small Renaissance town with a unique star shape. Aquileia was one of the most important cities during the Roman Empire, with over 100,000 people calling it home at the time. There are exciting open-air excavations, museums, and churches worth visiting before you continue on to Grado.
Today’s ride takes you along the Isonzo river delta, so keep your eyes open for wildlife along the way! You’ll then hop on the train to Trieste, or stay on your bike for this section if you’d prefer to cycle it. The stunning seaside palace of Miramare is worth stopping by, with gardens that hold over 2000 plant species. Spend the night enjoying the plazas, seaside promenade, and grand palaces of Trieste.
One of the most exciting days of your cycling trip from Venice to Croatia starts with a quick boat ride to Muggia, where you’ll cruise down the coast. Welcome to Slovenia! That’s right, you’ll cycle the Slovenian Riviera and spend the evening in Portoroz.
The last full day of your journey starts with a ride past the salt lakes of Secovlje and into Croatia. Here, you’ll ride along the famous Parenzana route, an old railway line that’s been converted into a cycling path. The path winds through the Istrian hills before descending into Porec. This medieval coastal town is the perfect place to unwind at the end of the trip, but make sure you enjoy some time at Euphrasius Basilica, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, before you kick back.
Enjoy a final breakfast in Croatia before starting your journey home. You can either take a boat back to Venice or fly out of Pula.

I’ve been using 10Adventures route guides for a while, but had never booked a tour. My wife and I booked a self-guided hike in Greece and were so impressed with how we were able navigate the route without a guide with the detailed and easy to follow itinerary. We enjoy travelling independently, and 10Adventures made that happen.

I’ve adventured around a lot of Canada and the US, but I’ve always wanted to explore other parts of the world. I felt a bit scared before booking my trip to Israel, but my conversations with the team at 10Adventures helped ease any worry. I can’t wait to explore more of the world!

Travel companies have had to go through a lot during the pandemic but 10Adventures were super flexible and accommodating nonetheless. I had to cancel my tour in France due to the pandemic. 10Adventures was great and let me reschedule for a later date!

Whenever I’m looking for my next adventure 10Adventures never fails. Their routes all over England are my main go to for exploring and I have only had great experiences booking both guided and self-guided trips in Europe and South America with them. I am looking into Africa next.

I just got back from backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, and WOW. What an unreal journey! The alpine meadows, waterfalls, and the lakeside camping spot were memorable highlights! I wonder what other tours 10Adventures has to offer. That one went so well that I am now convinced I need to book another!

I'm not a big fan of traveling because of my fear of flying, but my girlfriend convinced me to go on the Aurora Borealis Tour in the Yukon. I will never forget the mesmerizing northern lights. Such a romantic (and cold) getaway. I would highly recommend it.
