Itinerary for Wonders of Eastern India Tour

Day 1

Arrive in Kolkata

Overnight Location - Hotel in Kolkata | Distance - None | Meals - None

Meet and greet a tour representative upon arrival at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport near Kolkata before transferring to your hotel. Do note that Kolkata may be one of the most populated cities globally, but it never forgets its roots! It began as a quaint fisherman’s village before morphing into what it is today. Mother Teresa worked tirelessly for the poor in this city.

Day 2

Travel to Darjeeling

Overnight Location - Hotel in Darjeeling | Distance - None | Meals - Breakfast

Enjoy a delicious breakfast before transferring to the airport for your flight to Bagdogra. Another tour representative will greet you upon arrival and drive you to Darjeeling, where an array of tea gardens in the green slopes await. Admire the soaring Kanchenjunga Cluster—a part of the Himalayas—demanding attention in the background. Check into your hotel when you arrive and relax!

Day 3

Explore Darjeeling

Before golden light replaces the night sky, go to Tiger Hill to watch the sun rise above the third highest peak in the world, Kanchenjunga. After basking in Earth’s natural beauty, head to Ghoom Monastery and admire the giant statue of Maitreya Buddha. Return to your hotel for a hearty breakfast before continuing to the Himalayan Zoological Park. You can view Siberian tigers here! Travel to the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Center, and Gombu Rock Site as well. You will also visit some tea gardens.

Enjoy breakfast before going on a sightseeing tour around this lovely town located in Sikkim. You’ll visit Tsuk la Khang (Royal Chapel), Institute of Tibetology, Memorial Chorten, Orchid Sanctuary, Institute of Cottage Industry, and the 200-year-old Enchey Monastery. After exploring these beautiful attractions, you can spend the rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 7

Day at leisure in Gangtok

Go to Kalimpong

After breakfast, embark on a tour around Kalimpong. Discover the Zong Do Palri Fo Brang Monastery, Thongsa Gompa, Sericulture Institute, and flower nurseries. Relax at the hotel for the rest of the day or go exploring on your own.

Day 10

Fly to Kolkata

Enjoy breakfast before driving to Bagdogra, where you’ll board your flight to Kolkata. A tour representative will greet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel.

Day 11

Discover Kolkata

Go on a sightseeing tour around Kolkata before checking out of your hotel. Visit Victoria Memorial, Birla Planetarium, and St. Paul's Cathedral. Transfer from your hotel to the airport in the afternoon. The tour ends once you reach the airport.
