Paradise Lake Trail

Paradise Lake Trail is a bucket-list route from Castle Ski Resort. It is a family-friendly trail that leads to a beautiful blue lake in a subalpine cirque. Haig Ridge towers above the lake, making for a dramatic scene and a beautiful reflection if you arrive on a still, clear day. This trail is a great option for all abilities when visiting the Castle Ski Resort area in the summer.

Route Description for Paradise Lake Trail
To get to the Paradise Lake trailhead, find your way to the southernmost edge of the parking lot for Castle Ski Resort. There are signs for the hiking trails in the area, so you should be able to find your way with ease. You will leave the village area and pass the ski lodge and a pub before joining the trail. The trail is clear and easy to follow once you are on it. You will travel along a wide road below Haig Ridge in the West Castle Valley. The trail takes a right at the 3.4 km mark and climbs up to another wide road. Follow this into a subalpine cirque where you will find your way to Paradise Lake. The lake is surrounded by steep banks of scree and talus that fall directly to the shores of the stunning blue tarn.
You’ll return the way you came, and if you are up for more adventure, head up to Haig Ridge from the lake for outstanding views.
Getting to the Paradise Lake Trail Trailhead
To get to Paradise Lake trail, you will need to make your way to Castle Mountain Ski Resort. From Beaver Mines, travel 26.0 km along AB-774 following signs to Castle Mountain Ski Resort. Pull into the main parking lot of Castle Ski Resort to find the trailhead.
