Directions to Trailhead

The Milton under Wychwood Circular Walk is a fantastic route that will lead you through the picturesque Oxfordshire countryside for some lovely views. While out walking the trail, you will leave the village behind to pass through farmer’s fields and charming stretches of woodland terrain, making for a pleasant afternoon outdoors. Be sure to wear water-resistant footwear in the winter/spring seasons, as the trail can become fairly bogged down with mud.

Route Description for Milton under Wychwood Circular Walk

Although the trail can often be a bit boggy after a period of heavy rain, the Milton under Wychwood Circular Walk is a fantastic adventure in The Cotswolds AONB that will allow you to experience the natural beauty of the Oxfordshire countryside. Setting out from the Shipton rail station, you will make your way southwest along the road into Shipton under Wychwood before turning to the northwest to traverse a vast stretch of open farmland. Reaching the northernmost point of the trail, you will turn to the southwest to head through a lovely bit of woodland terrain before cutting back across the countryside to the southeast to pass through the charming village of Milton under Wychwood on the return leg of the journey back to the trailhead.

Getting to the Milton under Wychwood Circular Walk Trailhead

To reach the trailhead for the Milton under Wychwood Circular Walk from Burford, drive north on High Street/A361 for 0.5 km and take the second exit at the roundabout onto A361. Follow this for 7.6 km and turn left to arrive at the car park for the Shipton rail station, the starting point of the walk.
